13 was my first horse. He was sure there were ghosts in the pine trees next to the arena.....the swarm of bees he ignored but I didn't

When Izzy was a 3 week old foal I went out to the ranch at sunset & saw a cut on her leg. We treated & wrapped it & called the vet for the next day....she had managed to cut her leg down to the bone. So glad we are blessed with wonderful equine hospitals around central Ky when our local farm vet's skills & diagnostic equip isn't enough but they cost a fortune & don't always have the answers either. Lol....I got a call from a friend last night asking if I wanted a " free" horse. There is no such thing as a free horse so I graciously declined given I still have unknown amount of legal fees going on in Calif trying to resolve a RE issue.

I will never forget one evening when I was trying to get Izzy into the barn before a thunder storm hit. She was out in the large turnout arena in front of the barn. I had driven up there with "enough" time to get her inside before the storm was supposed to hit (she hated being inside). I walked to the gate & she decided that the far end of the arena UNDER the power pole was where she wanted to be. Rain started as I was walking down to her with the lead rope. She was playing hard to get. We were both getting drenched. THEN, a loud crack of lightning went into the ground on the next door farm about 150 ft away as I watched. She came right to me at that point & we were both running to the barn for safety. She was never difficult to get inside after that.
