I've suffered from eating disorders since I was a kid. I was anerexic, got help for it. Became bulimic, got help for that last year in hospital. & now I've developed a binge eating disorder.
When I was bulimic, I'd binge and then fast & excessively exercise to try work it off. & after fighting the urges to fast, I've become used to eating normally. However, I've starting bingeing again & not doing anything in between... My binges are only on junk food & becoming more frequent. I'm gaining a lot of weight, though am at a normal BMI at present. I don't want to gain more, but can't stop... I was wondering if anyone could give me tips on foods to replace te junk with. Preferably a variety of things that are healthy but can satisfy my need to binge. It seems like a better option for me right now.

Hi NonBinaryHampster,
Sorry you having a difficult relapse. You might want to ask what has happened in your life to cause binge eating. I assume it's winter season in Ireland and when it gets cold we all want to eat comfort food. I try to throw in a can or bag of vegies with my food to fill me up for example: Tonight, I mixed a can of stewed tomatoes with a can of chile, or a can spinach with some pasta so I compromise and mix low cal with moderate or high cal foods. Hope this helps.

I'm getting help for hopefully stopping binge eating again, but in the meantime I'm mainly looking for an alternative to the junk food I've been eating. Starting to mix some fruit and nuts in to it now. The only thing is, when i binge I refuse to put anything together, so it'd have to be a 'grab and go' type food

![]() I'm in my early twenties now, but have wasted 15 years already on eating disorders....having food being the main focus of my life, hiding, not being able to socialise properly in case someone sees me eating, and the many, many medical problems that go along with it. It's something I want to change, especially now that I see there's a problem. I am seeing a counsellor about it, and know I've to do it more gradually than last time so I won't slip as easily. Which is why I'm mainly looking for junk food substitutes at present - I'm not ready to try stop yet.
