Hi there,
I've recently stopped denying the fact that I binge eat after "fasting," and overall have an awful relationship with food. I would really appreciate advice on how to start the process of dealing with this/recovering. What has helped you heal your relationship with food? Any recommendations for me? I know I need to become more aware of why it happens, but I'm just not sure where to start. Thank you so much. |

Hi Crossing! I don't have anything specific to offer, but this is a great place to be. I second Skeezyks, there are lots of helpful people here so have a look around the forums, and welcome!

Welcome. One thing that helped me a lot was to get my real bingey kind of food out of my apt. That helps me not to feel disgusted with myself because that binge food is not there and so I won't be eating it. My doctor has also prescribed Topomax for binge eating disorder and it helps me not to want to stuff myself. I had been binging and lost control for many years so going on the medicine has been such a relief for me. I wish you well.

I find that I overeat when bored most often. Breakfast is supposedly the most important meal of the day, and helps people to eat less later (again supposedly) - so maybe if we eat healthy breakfasts. TBH, I can't help because I am in the problem, not seeing it from hindsight.
