Hi there,

I've recently stopped denying the fact that I binge eat after "fasting," and overall have an awful relationship with food. I would really appreciate advice on how to start the process of dealing with this/recovering.

What has helped you heal your relationship with food? Any recommendations for me? I know I need to become more aware of why it happens, but I'm just not sure where to start.

Thank you so much.
Hugs from:

Hello crossring: I see this is your first post here on PC. So... welcome to PsychCentral... from the Skeezyks! I hope you find the time you spend here to be of benefit. There are many caring & knowledgeable members here. The more you post, & reply to other members' posts, the more connected to the community you will become. Plus there are social groups you can join; & chat rooms where you'll be able to interact with other members in real time (once your first 5 posts have been reviewed & approved.) Lots of great stuff!

The Skeezyks is not in a position to respond to the concerns you mention in your post. But I noticed no one had yet replied, so I thought I would. Hopefully other members who have had similar experiences will reply to your post. Please keep posting!
Thanks for this!

Hi Crossing! I don't have anything specific to offer, but this is a great place to be. I second Skeezyks, there are lots of helpful people here so have a look around the forums, and welcome!

Welcome. One thing that helped me a lot was to get my real bingey kind of food out of my apt. That helps me not to feel disgusted with myself because that binge food is not there and so I won't be eating it. My doctor has also prescribed Topomax for binge eating disorder and it helps me not to want to stuff myself. I had been binging and lost control for many years so going on the medicine has been such a relief for me. I wish you well.
Thanks for this!

I find that I overeat when bored most often. Breakfast is supposedly the most important meal of the day, and helps people to eat less later (again supposedly) - so maybe if we eat healthy breakfasts. TBH, I can't help because I am in the problem, not seeing it from hindsight.
Thanks for this!
