hi,

okay- so perhaps that thread title's not a good one (but it's what i could think of at the time)

what i want to know is what foods do you eat that you wish you could stop- that contribue the most to your overeating disorder.

for example, for me it's takeout meals- if i didn't have 3 or 4 takeouts a week, my overeating would probably be a little better (not 100 percent, i'd still eat cookies and chips) but it would be better- takeout meals make up a large part of my daily overeating

do you get what i mean.. what about you guys
Thanks for this!

Sometimes I get fast food but not that often anymore. I think what is really holding me back is the lack of motivation to exercise. Sorry if I'm not answering your answer right but..

For me it is tortilla chips, or pasta. It's really hard to just eat a little of either one of those.
Thanks for this!

i love fast food!. KFC for the win (followed by mcdonalds)

lack of exercise.. yeah, me too, i guess.

though i hate my body- really really hate it, joining in a gym or doing a few pressups won't solve that- plus i'll put it all back on again on my next binge

Carbs! I rarely feel full unless I have them and when I do I over do them. I rarely get take away but some of the easy homemade meals to make - like pizza, burgers, burritos, pie & chips etc gets on the rotation every week. I have been trying to eat more curries, asian salads and stir frys that use vermicelli noodles with lots of vegs/salad but it comes down to effort and motivation to get that done. I am so tired all of the time and I often cook to keep the others in my household happy who are not over-eaters and can manage the carb love unlike myself

I have been trying to exercise more as the lack of is also a big problem for me

Potato chips, French fries, tater tots, hashbrowns... I should probably just say fried potatoes. I'll have at least one potato thing a day. If I'm having a bad day, it might be four or five. I've had more bad days than good lately.

If I have carbs (like toast) in the morning, it sets the tone for the day. I keep at any kind of food I can get, but mostly bread, potatoes, etc. I find that when I only have veggies in me, I lack a full heavy feeling that my body and mind crave. I could eat lots of cabbage soup for example, until I am swimming in bloated fullness, but it still lacks the carb feeling. I don't eat hardly any sugar, cookies, cakes or treats of that sort. I do choose a lot of dairy. Dairy with veggies and carbs like noodles really makes me feel good. I have been trying to put more veggies then noodles in my salads and casseroles, alfredo etc- to balance this out. I love veggies, salads, garlic, cream soups, etc - but carb in all of those things.

:P So ya, carbs for that satiated feeling.

I guess it's because I'm less stressed and rarely hungry in the morning. I get hungry in the afternoon and have a snack but it turns into more than a snack. Same thing at night.

Don't have an ED, just looking through the forums on behalf of my ex who does. She loves Mexican food in resteraunts and that. That stuff is great, but I hear a lot of it is not healthy at all.

My weakness was Indian takeout... vegetable vindaloo... mmmm... unfortunately, I moved away from that takeout place so it's probably just as well! Now I cook my own curries. My weakness nowadays, since I'm trying to lose weight (I WAS overeating; I ate a lot and gained quite a bit of weight during a very depressive period.) is mac n cheese and vegetables. I also love Doritos but I do manage to keep them as a treat.

Diet Coke or Pepsi is another one I struggle with... I have them as a treat, but perhaps a lil too often. I'm trying to cut back on the soda. The shandy isn't too bad as it has no aspartame and no added sugar.

My urge to munch comes at night more than anything. As I understand it, as you become tired, your body craves carbs for energy to keep yourself awake. What we probably should be doing, is eating something small and healthy, then going to bed. Unfortunately, a lot of us will dive into the kitchen and grab something that typically is rich in simple carbs because they're quick and easy. The other factor I'm sure plays a role is that when night comes around, it's often quiet, lonely, and so many of us are left with our own thoughts. x_x I try to keep myself distracted during those times.

if i don't get my dr pepper i'm irritable

Any kind of carbs! Take out, French fries, chocolates, cakes, pasta, chicken nuggets, sugary sweets,...sometimes feels like anything can be a binge food anymore.

Easy to munch refined highly processed foods. Junk plus soda.
