I've known 2 people, at least, with BPD. Both of them stare at me sometimes with the most gigantic dilated pupils I've ever seen outside of the eye doctor's clinic. Any clue what this might mean or what several things it could mean? Rage? Anxiety/panic? Something else?

Either they are very attracted to you (the eyes dilate when you look at someone you're attracted to), or they are on some sort of drug or medication that causes their eyes to dilate like that.

Yes that's what I was gonna say^^ your pupils dilate to let in more light. They function like a photo lens aperture. So in low light they dilate to see better..but many studies have shown that human eyes dilate in response to looking at something or someone they find appealing or attractive. And also some drugs, medications and dehydration also can be the cause of dilated pupils. I don't know any particular correlation btwn PDs and pupil dialation...but I've never looked into the matter either. So not sure. But if it's in a clinical setting it might be meds and dehydration that is a side effect of them?..interesting observation tho! I'm gonna put it on my personal research list

Her lips were normal though and no blushing. So, I guess that drugs or extra Ritalin is the most likely explanation?

Any chance that was panic? She said before that she's "emotionally fearful" of me.

"Extra" Ritalin? I would think it is that.

If it were that, would there be any other clues? Moving quickly?

With some of the other possibilities, I would expect additional "tells" like if it were attraction, I would look for blushing or redder lips; if it were panic, I would suspect heavier breathing... I suspect that their maybe other signs that I missed that could narrow down the possibilities. Previously, I saw her with these gigantic pupils during a talk where her eyes were normal at first and after I said something they got gigantic. But that was that time, and this is now. Not sure if it's the same scenario. I would really like to learn to read this dilated pupil expression/expressions better.

Maybe they were fearful of their attraction to you?

Extremely dilated pupils are never from normal emotion or even poor lighting. There is a limit. Past that limit it is something abnormal or drugs.

Yep, dilated to the point of no visible iris. Not sure if panic can do that? Drugs can.

Psychosis, delusions, some drugs dilate others turn them to pin points.brain damage and concussion, but I am guessing you can rule that out.

I generally have large pupils...so I wonder if everyone thinks I am on drugs all the time.
