I hope you have the doctor who dx'd you with borderline personality disorder to ask these questions. That doctor should be helping you learn how to manage it! IMO there is always a reason... there's always something underlying our reactions... it's important to find it...if not alone, then with a T. TC!

I talk to my therapist and I contact my family physician because for me this kind of stuff usually means my depression is kicking in.

Sometimes it helps when you can recognize that you are having an episode, and the extreme feelings are blown out of proportion for the situation. When you know what is going on, you have more power to be in control of your own actions. You can remind yourself that the bad feelings may be intense right now but they won't last and you will be okay if you can just wait it out.

"What do you do when you"...... "react in anger to someone's rude comments"

I think it is "normal" and healthy to feel angry in response to a personal attack or rude comments. It's even healthier to learn not to take the other person's rudeness or meanness personally and realise it's their problem, not yours. Maybe they are just having a bad day Nobody around me understands BPD. I have nowhere to go!

The trick is to learn to manage your behaviour..... to respond rather than to react.

Your reaction when angry, hurt and triggered might be to attack back, send one or more hurt emails.... etc. But, like Rapunzel said, you can learn that you will be ok if you can just wait it out. You won't feel that bad for ever.....Go away from the situation...... I am rambling.... like Sky said, your doctor or therapist is the best person to help you with this. It does get easier if you do the work Nobody around me understands BPD. I have nowhere to go!

Take care,
Fuzzy
