welcome to PC! I'm glad you came. There are many of us who can share and relate with you. YOU ARE NOT ALONE...not here.

I'm sorry this episode is lasting so long. It can be hell on earth, I know.

In times like this, I used to have to do MASSIVE self talk...almost repetitively, and continually repeat my surroundings to self. Also, I would do things that involved my hands and head to CREATE, but not to the point of frustration...things like paint by number kits, puzzles, etc. I can calm so much there and hours pass and it helps to "trick" my brain from being so hypervigilent and panicked.

We're here. We care.

hi ifly... sorry you are feeling so desperate. Sounds like a smart T you have sugestions despreate

Yes, grounding exercises are important. PTSD is a beast. Sorry you have been triggered so strongly... keep telling yourself it's in the past, it isn't happening now...

and? try and distract yourself. Try.

TC, and again, welcome.

Welcome ifly!

Sorry to hear of your situation. There are lots of good people here who understand. You may find some helpful info just reading others experiences.

Have you tried listening to music or relaxation tapes? That sometimes helps me, but I've also been known to blast some loud rock music into my head via headphones. Helps clear out the invasive clutter and keeps me focused. sugestions despreate

There are lots of grounding techniques listed at the top of this forum you may find helpful as well.

Keep posting, that will help too.

how about asking your therapist to make a relaxation type recording for you to listen to. My therapist just a few weeks ago recorded a couple relaxation exercises and it helps me alot. Came in real handy last night, today and right now I am listening to one of then while typing this.

Do you like any type of animals? I know my cat is the biggest coward on earth so much so that when a friend stayed here for a couple weeks she bought a little pet store mouse and the result was my cat hid under the bed. LOL I find that funny considering he befriends guinea pigs and birds but anyway peting, playing with and taking care of my cat helps alot.
