My near fall triggered a panic attack yesterday. Needless to say yesterday was not a good day. Today is not much better. I am lucky if I can stay focused for 10 minutes at a time. I broke down yesterday and used a PRN dose of my meds. I have not needed to do that in over a year.

Part of the fall out from yesterday is that everything seems to trigger a memory from my abuse, the 6 days I spent on the floor before being rescued or a resent event where I had an allergic reaction to flea bites. Everything is like a chain reaction one thing triggers another which triggers something else.

Normally I am able to use my DBT skills or find a distraction to calm me down but today I feel like a Ping Pong Ball in a tournament. Bouncing all over the place.

Any suggestions?

I am sorry to hear you are struggling so much right now. falling is definitely scary so I can see why that triggered you. keep trying your dbt skills. if they have worked in the past they will eventually kick in for you. take care.

I have been able to "call a friend" and things are starting to settle now. Still not able to focus for very long though.

To say I am sorry for your pain right now seems so small, but I really do understand. I have severe panic attacks to and understand how they can freeze us almost in oblivion. It takes time to recover, I always remember my favorite therapist said when things are really tough to take baby steps. I take micro-mini baby steps. If that's all you can do at least you are doing something. I have a fear of falling, because of having problems with one leg, so I really understand that fear of being helpless. Take care of yourself. I hope each day gets easier for you.

Yeah... time to remove yourself from the drama... do you have a comfort place, or a basket of comfort items to help you through this triggery time?

Put everything aside and do good self care. Treat yourself to things that make you feel better. It's okay, this too shall pass.... and you'll be back on your feet before long.

I hope you aren't going too fast in therapy...I assume you do have a T...maybe you could put a call in. Sometimes a 3 minute call from the T helps settle life down.

i am doing better today. Spending lots of time distracting and listening to my audio books. Even dug out my geometric coloring books and colored pencils. Today I was able to stay focused for 15 to 20 minuets at a time where the last two days I could not. Been doing lots of creative journaling/writing funny email messages to my friend.

I am between T's right now but have been down the road before so I do have my tool box for emergency situations. This time was just more intense than anything in resent past. (Suspect that being between T's didn't help matters)

Thank you all for responding It does help to be able to reach out here when other connections arn't available
