I saw a LCSW twice to support me while looking for a new therapist .

She recommended I try EFT and I was REALLY resistant however somebody else mentioned it along with a YouTube channel so I looked it up and tried the most recent video. It made me cry.

I can see my LCSW was right. I think I'm going to ask for one more session with her so she can teach it to me. She also invited me to a stress reduction skills class Wednesday which I think I'm going to go now.

It's funny how defensive a reaction I had when she suggested it. I was like no way. Now I'm like oh boy she was right .

EFT can be very powerful.
It's also recommended by the trauma specialist/researcher Bessel van der Kolk.
I hope you continue to find it helpful!

I like EFT a lot better than EMDR. a therapist told me EMDR doesn't work for me because I just relive the trauma rather than processing it.

I had so much childhood neglect that my therapist could not do EMDR with me. I appreciate you talking about EFT.

I cannot do EDMR or any of the usual processes tried. Too much trauma.

I know of many people doing EFT and similar processes (the Healing Codes, with Alex Loyd, as well). Many are doing well with both of these processes.

However, I have only, so far, seen the EFT (and yoga) endorsed by trauma researchers/specialists, esp Bessel van der Kolk.

I go into severe PTSD with EFT, too.

I have seen a few researchers and they tell me to not do any of them due to the chronicity/severity of my trauma history. That is an individual recommendation, not necessarily to be taken generally here.

I hope EFT helps you, too!

Thank you I'm going to start reading the body keeps the score for my book club tomorrow and then I see my LCSW for EFT either next month or sept. In the meantime I'm following Brad Yates on YouTube and subscribed to his list.

Brad Yates is amazing! He's a great teacher and his heart is in it, too!
Bessel van der Kolk's books are also good. He has a DVD for yoga (esp for trauma) available through this trauma practitioner training program. One does not have to be a practitioner to secure the DVD.

You have a great plan in place!
Wonderful!

Thank you. I use yoga app. I wonder if I could get his DVD from the library. I actually started the book a day early. It's very engaging .

If a library does not have the DVD, they might order it from another library or from the program for lending purposes. I'd ask the libraries. Great idea!

Trauma is multi-layered, the more you peel back, the more is there till you get to the root of the matter. I've tried EFT numerous times. It did not get to the underlying causes of the issues at hand, it dealt with the symptoms. That's good but not good enough.

Yes, I am also interested in how you are doing with EFT!
Many people do very well with EFT.
