are you seeing a therapist? finding a good T is a good first step to healing
Read the stickies at the top of the forum for ways to cope with the different symptoms talk it through with a close friend or relative you can trust or maybe a help line or religious person if you are religious - hope you find a start to your journey of healing but please dont just think you can fix this yourself - we all need some help and there is no shame in that - hugs if ok

when I have my PTSD symptoms........panic attacks, nightmares, suicidal thoughts, flashbacks (some places call this hallucinations) the first thing I do is breath. I take a few deep breaths, remind myself that I am going to be ok, then if the feelings dont subside I call my therapist. suggestion if this continues to bother call a hotline or your treatment providers. you can also continue to post here about what ever it is that is bothering you then maybe someone can reply back to you whether they have the same problem and how they handle the problem when it happens to them. |

I second getting a therapist. While individual therapy has never helped me much, I found group therapy very helpful and they never pressured me to share when I didn't feel comfortable talking. I also find getting a bit of exercise in during the day helps; I like yoga because you're active but its also calming. Find some coping skills like drawing or listening to music to help during the rough times, and develop a healthy daily routine to prevent some of the rough times. Sleep is really difficult for me because of PTSD, but I feel so much better when I get a full nights sleep so that's important. But yeah, therapy is a big one and your therapist can help you learn ways to cope.
