I have service-connected mst ptsd. I also was told by the examiner that I may have had dissociative fugue states, since he did not see me having DID, even though I was diagnosed a while back.

I never processed mst. I thought I was not able to talk about it until a psych mentor suggested i go to the va. I feared the va for about 20 years. All this time, homeless at times, and the benefits were there, along with some records that corroborate my story.

I do not feel like a vet tho.

I never deployed or served in combat. I was honorably discharged.

Anyway, I have no idea where this post belongs. It is not combat trauma, but it is military sexual trauma.

The VA also calls it chronic ptsd (not complex).

Thankfully, I do not lose time anymore. But the ptsd remains.

I lost so much.

@Blknblu ... I'm so sorry to hear you went through that, too. Thank you for your reply.

On a side note: Even if you don't have any documentation, the Vet Center can offer free mental health and social services (e.g., outings with other veterans such as to the movies, sky diving, equine therapy, camping, etc.), which can also help you obtain a service-connected disability rating. Even if you applied before and got a certain rating, you can always reapply, but you'd need documentation from a Vet Ctr. or VA therapist and other clinicians such as psychiatrists, primary care, pulmonary (sleep), gastrointestinal (irritable bowel, which is connected with PTSD and can be considered service-connected, depending), etc. A VA rep can help you with that, and they usually have them at the Vet Centers.

You might already know this, but just in case you didn't.

I knew a fellow vet who was rated around 50% and she reapplied and got it increased to 70%. She didn't have any documentation, but she had medical records outside of the VA to show that she was struggling.

Hope this could be of some help.

Lillib

Thank you for the info, I did not seek help, too much shame attached to it. Waited too long for that, did not have the presence of mind to attend too much, and late. I am in contact with CWT, and a Move group for women and exercise. And MST women's group. Those are the big parts of moving forward for me now.
My PCP has been patient and tolerant and referred me to therapy
Last week.
It seems so often "going thru motions". Insane.
Thanks for suggestions, and better days ahead for us all.

@Blknblu

I'm so sorry that you went through that, too. (((safe hugs)))

I still feel shame from it. I tried the MOVE group, but I have CFS (service-connected) now, so I need physical therapy instead. I miss the MOVE program.

I feel dissociated when speaking about MST, and it's really hard for me to speak about it. All other traumas seem a little easier than that one, for sure.

Indeed, better days ahead!
