Well here we go again. Dolly is slamming into the Brownsville, Texas and Mexican border. And way over here in St Bernard we are getting effects from it. Outlying feeder bands are sending us some tropical storm winds and lots of rain. But we do need the rain. As i type a nice one of those feeder bands are hitting us. Ya'll down there where Dolly is hitting, be careful and take cover. I know its only a Cat 1 storm, but you know what comes out of these storms.

We are expecting a 4-6 foot surge from this storm. And have our levees here only at a 6 foot height. The locks have been closed at Bayou Bienvenue, two out of the three bridges into the parish have been closed and the ferry to the westbank has been closed. Were only under a voluntary evac. The officials here dont expect any levee breaks.

Then to top it all off. About 3am this morning a barge and oil tanker collided in the Mississippi River and quite a bit of oil was spilled, so our water has been turned off and the reserves have been turned on. We're being told the reserves will only last up to 24 hours and told to conserve water. This is expected to last 2-3 days. So i guess we'll be back to potty buckets, no showers, etc. But we're somewhat lucky, we've already started stockpilling on our bottled water. If necessary we will go into it. On the news people are hitting the stores for water.

Anyway, whats next?

I keep thinking maybe I'll deploy for August.... but not sure if I am up for another round. Found myself today staring at some of those pictures from last time that some ppl had sent me... and came back around about a half hour later.
If you want to PM me - do so any time. I'm out here. Need to vent or process stuff.... I've got your back.
