I have been taking citalopram. I took it for about a couple of weeks and then I went off it cold turkey for about 2 weeks. Then on Monday I got more. I took it and now I feel tired or have a lack of energy. I've already had a sleep today. I might have a nap. I do stay up late but I did sleep. Citalopram is helpful but will this tiredness go away? Or may I have to sleep earlier? My sleeping pattern is messed up

My first thought is to try and get on a normal sleep cycle again. And yes drowsiness can be a side effect. Try taking at bed time rather than in the morning.

Is this an side effect of citalopram?

I try to but it's the summer holidays and it has wreaked my sleep cycle. If i take it at bedtime I might not be able to sleep

Hey HappyCheeks,

Unfortunately I am gonna say a sleep routine and structure is your best bet. When do you take Citalopram? When I was on it I use to take it in the morning and at night. It did help me at night as my insomnia was quite bad back then. I know it's the summer hols but you really need sleep.... I am saying this in my head as I am like you I don't sleep

I take it in the morning. If I take it at night I am worried I might not be able to sleep. I know I need sleep but I spend more time on the computer. sometimes at night I don't feel tired enough to go to sleep.

Hey HappyCheeks,

Ye maybe try an early night tonight. I have started going to bed bed between 10-11pm. You have another hour or so

Today I made a Sleep Sheet with my Support Worker for incase I can't sleep. I am hoping it works as I am shocking at sleep recently.

Hey HappyCheeks,

Have you got relaxation CD's? I have one that's specifically for sleep and that normally helps. Make sure your phone is switched off and your room is quiet.

i took citalopram for a few months and it made me like a zombie
i felt tired all the time and found it really hard to get out of bed or motivate myself to do anything.
i hope it turns out better for you and you manage to regulate your sleep.

Oh my goodness, I'm sorry about that. I think citalopram suits me. It calms me down and prevents my mood swings. Maybe another anti- depressant could help.
