I don't know what the heck was wrong with me last night, I wound up taking my risperidone twice. I wasn't trying to OD, I just forgot that I took it and took it again about 2 hours later. Bad move. Instead of my normal 4 mg, that meant I got 8 mg which is a really high dose.

I feel really awful today - headache, nausea, some light flashes in my vision, and feeling like my brain is fighting with itself. I called telehealth to make sure I didn't need to go to a hospital, and they said I'd be ok in 24 hrs.

But I am seriously never doing that again. I just went out and bought one of those pill organizer boxes, Meds are going in that from now on.

eek! I had no idea one double dose of risperidone could do that. One time I was out of seroquel 200 mg so I took a pill of seroquel 300 mg. All it did was make me more tired.

I have pill sorters, pill splitters....

A few weeks ago I was forgetting if I took my evening dose of risperidone or not, so I would just not take it out of fear that I didn't want to take it twice and then would figure out about 6 hours later that I hadn't taken it (but it would be too close to my morning dose to take it then, so I was just SOL). I too went and got a pill organizer box so I could just look in there and know whether or not I took it, it really does help me figure out if I took my meds or not.

Hopefully the pill organizer will help you too.
Thanks for this!

I have done that as well and thankfully only once. It was a rough day.

I have a weekly pill organizer. In fact, I have three different weekly pill organizers for three different pills so as to prevent me from double-dosing. So far so good.

I used to give my dog her med at same time i took mine. She was on amitrytaline. I accidently took hers and thought no big deal she is just a dog - right? I thought dog doses were smaller. Actually because of their metabolism they are bigger. I woke up about 24 hrs later. I missed work and everything. Now we take our meds separately.

A little bit. I have pill organizer. Dog and i take meds at different times . Actually she doesnt need amytritiline anymore now that she has cats to keep her company, but she is 13 now and takes rymadil . I probably dont want to try that. Getting a medalert bracelet so
police hopefully wont arrest me again. Other people have had that problem too.

Pill organizer in place, and yeah I have a medic alert bracelet as well because of all the meds I'm on, one of which has some pretty nasty drug interactions.

Hopefully I'll avoid being arrested and since I have no pets, no risk of meds mix up there.

I'm feeling a little better today, although still feeling slightly out of it.

Wow - can't believe I was that dumb.

Oh, I'm so sorry you have been feeling so awful. I always worry about that, especially as I get older. I take a med in the middle of the night and am always afraid I'll take it twice or did/didn't take it once, etc.

I highly recommend those pill organizer boxes! One warning - if you take morning and night-time meds, you might want to get 2 separate pill minder boxes. Then put one in a zip-lock bag marked NIGHT MEDS. I had a big pill box with meds for 4 times a day. I would forget which was morning - the top or the bottom. Now I know I have to open the zip lock to get the night ones.

I think the pill organizer is a good idea. It's so easy to either forget if you have taken your meds and either miss a dosage or double up on it.

I take my morning meds that are sitting on the shelve right above the sink, then after I take them I swap them with the evening meds, putting the AM ones in the medicine cabinet and taking out the PM ones and putting them on the shelve. This has worked for me, though I do miss my morning pills sometimes but I always notice by lunch or after work at the latest.

Taking double dose happens to the best of us. I am on methotrexate for arthritis - it's a potent cancer med that is used to treat symptoms of arthritis. Took it one night, took sleeping pill, woke up at 6am and thought I didnt take med so took another 15 mg. Almost had to go to hospital to be monitored. Boy did I feel stupid!

I only take pills twice a day now, I use different colors for AM, PM to help me remember- I'm horrible with memory. Yellow for am--sun rising. Purple for evening-setting sun(I lived in New Mexico for awhile they have the most awesome setting suns in the Sandia mountains!
I can take up to two extra pain pills for break though pain so in a clear 4 week I put the two extra for the day, I can tell at a glance if I have taken any for that day and I keep only two in my purse. When my pain is under control the hardest thing for me is to remember the pain patch every other day of corse it's easy to remember when I'm in pain.

Likewater-I'm sorry unenlightened police were the ones to stop for you. I was always Lucky to get more knowledgeable police if I was dissociating badly I was taken to the hospital but never to jail. The medical alert is a great idea.

I have done that too. So I have a permanent marker in my bag of pill bottles. I put a line on the bottle when I take one. I can count them and subtract from the total if I dont remember if I took one or not.

And if you cant count when youre medicated, then I suggest you put them in a baggie for the day, or a pill case.
Unless you have someone to count them for you.
I had a bf, that I really thought would last btw, that was very helpful when it came to knowing how many pills I had at any given time.
