I am getting absolutely desperate. I will try anything now. Even thought of ECT but my shrink says I don't fit the profile.

So can any-one out there in the cyber world tell me how they found Cymbalta? Please

It worked a tiny bit for me, but only with Prozac. Way too expensive for not enough effect for me.
Thanks for this!

Cymbalta worked WONDERS for me- and me feel like my old self again. Sadly though, I had some adverse reactions to it so I'm weaning myself off it. I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I'm actually really upset I have to go off this. It has really been very benificial to me- I was even willing to put up with the side effects until the last one came up- and that one was just too dangerous for me. UGH! Back to the drawing board again.

Cymbalta seems to work well for me, I think. It was working well in a combination some years ago but I had to go off of it because I couldn't pay for it - going off was bad, others have compared it to drug detoxing - don't go off it without your doctor's help. I'm back on it now and I'm not in touch with my sadness really - it's kinda unnatural feeling, but I'm more functional.

I do well with Cymbalta; I have been on every SSRI and none helped. The SNRI made the difference. Not only that, but between Effexor and Cymbalta, Cymbalta I choose because it lets me still orgasm. The SSRI's and the Effexor--I could not orgasm and I will not tolerate this. To me, that ruins my quality of life. So, I am not thrillingly happy, by any means, but Cymbalta helps me function while still allowing me to both cry and orgasm. Hope this info is helpful.

Hi. I really like Cymbalta. I have to take quite a high dose to notice it, but I find it very effective. It can trigger hypomania in me, if so, I monitor and adjust dose accordingly. I just have to be super vigilant & self-aware about potential mania, but I feel it's benefits far outweigh the negatives. I have little to no side-effects, maybe a little dry-mouthed & tremory, but that's about it. As far as psych meds go, Cymbalta has given me the least drama's. I really hope this helps you. Now I have the same question for you, but about Xeldox & Saphris. Have you tried them or heard much about them? They're nearly my last two options, as far as a stabiliser, & I'm really scared of side effects, especially weight gain. Thanks if you can give me any feedback. Good luck with your situation. I hope you try Cymbalta & it works as well for you as it did for me! xoxo

I've been on Cymbalta for over ten yrs, went from 60 to 90 mg/day about a yr ago with only desired effects. I'm also on Topamax as a mood stabilizer. I have to be aware of the propensity to tip into mania, but otherwise there are no negatives. Nothing else worked, largely because of side effects that far exceeded what I could tolerate.
Hope you fare well with it!

Best drug for me. Been on it for many years at 60mg and wouldn't use anything else. I also have fibromyalgia and it reduces my pain to near normal. Good luck!

Day 6. I am now on 60mg and the headaches stopped yesterday. I am so glad I switched from Aropax to Cymbalta. I feel more positive than I have been for decades.

So after being in hospital for two months and getting home today it will be interesting to see how things are when all the dust starts to settle.

Thanks for the support and feedback all.

Choocha I dont remember ever taking Zeldox or Saphris so I cant help you with any results regarding those medications. Goodluck.

Hi, Possum. I just went back to Cymbalta a couple days ago as the SSRI's are just not doing the job for my depressive side of bipolar disorder. Cymbalta worked well for me a couple years ago, but I only stayed on it for a short time due to sexual side effects, but I've decided that I need to be depression-free first and foremost, and deal with the side effects as they come. Good luck!

Day 10 on Cymbalta. Currently on 60mgs per day.

Feeling depressed this afternoon. Just wondering if you can tell what the right dose is for this medication. I do know that the max dose is 120mg.

Any ideas friends?

Hi
Ok the cymbalta is working but I'm depressed now because I don't have any energy and can't do,anything except sleep. I saw my pdoc today and I am going to start taking the cymbalta at night b4 bed instead of first thing in the morning and also I just got prescribed reboxetine which is a stimulant antidepressant. Will let you know how I progress, fingers crossed this works.

I believe that I read that 60 mgs is the typical therapeutic dose. But SNRI's usually take 3-4 weeks to start working, so you may not feel any affect yet. I'm on my 3rd week of cymbalta but it's not doing anything for me yet...hopefully I'll feel something soon, although this is an extremely small dose since I'm just starting.
Thanks for this!

I've been on Cymbalta now for about 3 weeks and it is doing wonders for me. I went off of Prozac and onto Cymbalta to help with depression, but Cymbalta has been great for my anxiety as well. I still have some libido side effects, but at this point I'm willing to put up with them for the benefit of what I'm getting out of the Cymbalta.

Is the cymbalta causing that libido side effect and if so, how bad is it?

Hi. I do have libido side effects with Cymbalta, but it is no worse than what I have experienced with all other antidepressants. I seem to just get those issues with every AD med I've taken, which has been many.

I heard that it didn't really have many sexual side effects which is why i went on it. How do you know it isn't one of the other drugs that is causing those side effects for you?

I have libido side effects as well but not as bad as I had with Effexor. I'm still very depressed so I guess that wouldn't be helping with the libido either.
