Hey I was wondering does anyone here take a drug called Paxil and having major problems with it?

Heres the reason, i am taking Paxil and I have serioulsy high sensitivity to any form of medication perscription or non perscription due to the severity of my Abuse and I am not taking it to well. My moods are well out of control at this time when i have it in my system it gives me major chest pains, not only that my suicidal thoughts have gotten worse.

The Doctor that gave it to me keeps saying stay on it stay on it, even th ought its giving me the above symptoms and making me loose weight through a great deal of vomitting. Now i am at a stage where I am terrifide to even take any of the medication itself. I have tried time and time again telling the doctor how it makes me feel, but he does not listen to me at all. I feel that he is the last resort beacuse I am not amble to find anyone on my insurance who cares enough and who knows enough about trauma and abuse that will take me.

Is anyone having the same problems as i am with Paxil and any other meds? DOes anyone have any adivice for me? Can anyone help me?

THanks for listening i hope i have not wasted space here. Bear.

((((((((((((((bearhug)))))))))))) I wish I had some advice about Paxil but I know very little about it. Could you talk to your pharmacist and see what they say about side effects? I would keep looking for a second opinion especially with some of what you are feeling. I hope you find some info soon.

Hi Bearhugs,
I was put on Paxil when I had anxiety and I had a very bad reaction to it. My anxiety became worst and I was confused on top of it.
My primary doctor insisted that I kept taking it but I flat out refused-I talked with my psych doctor and he put me on Zoloft instead and it made a world of difference.
Good luck with this! Need help with paxil....

I don't know where the idea of precisely what constitutes a "dose" of any of these antidepressants comes from. Why is it that you take 20 mg of Paxil, but an equivalent dose of Effexor is supposedly 150 mg? Why not 150 Paxil, and 20 Effexor? Ya know?

And some drugs metabolize very differently in different people's bodies. I'm very sensitive to medication. Of the drugs I'm using now, my tolerance of two particular drugs is about 1/3 in one case, and 1/10 in another. I just can't come near what the doctor was calling a "therapeutic dose". Toxic dose, for me.

I've heard of some enlightened doctors prescribing their med-sensitive patients the pediatric liquid formulations for e.g. Prozac. Because the dose varies precisely as the volume, if you measure out your medicine carefully, you can get any dose you want. 2.5 mg Prozac a day, precisely, if that's what you want. The pills don't come in anything near that small a dose, and breaking pills is not a good way to measure drug doses.

I'm too sensitive to take regular drug doses. I'm lucky my doctor finally believes me.

Just some random thoughts.
