Its been a bit over a year since I have been on meds for my BP, and today I gotta meet my new Pdoc and talk to him about what I was wanting to do, treat, and how to go about everything.... we figured that we would start with 2 mood stabilizers.... lamotrigine 25mg for a week, then 50mg, yada yada.. as well as risperidone 1-2mg... After reading all the comments and stuff about the risp.. I'm kinda scared to take it!! But I guess i'll try it.. I go back on the 9th, so I will try my mix here... We are trying to treat the depression and stabilize my lovely lil world. Rapid cycling daily SUCKS!!! We shall see how it goes, but I would like a reminder to post about how I'm feeling on them and whatnot if that is at all possible...

Well good luck. Keep posting
I think I was on Lamitrogine for a while. Med free at the moment. Some times looking back I had no clue what Med was doing what. So starting out again like you are I would really try use some thing like mood tracker. They can record all your meds etc. as well as posting daily.

Hi Chris! Thanks for the update and head’s up on your condition. I hope this treatment is extremely helpful. I’ll make sure to keep up with your progress, and I keep in mind that the meds will take time to show the full effects. Having company will encourage you to stay going and reduce the isolation that is common in depression, so I’m really grateful that you messaged me for support. I am in your corner, honey! Have a sweet day today and I’ll check with you in a few days; keep me informed of any changes.

Mission, I do have a mood tracker, I got it a few days ago to track my cycling, so far, its full of sick since I have been down with a cold for a few days now haha!!

Tabi, thank you for all ur kindness since I have joined.. we shall see..

I took both of them last night, and noticed that I got tired and hyper at the same time, so tonight I will just take one and then take the other in the morning.. hoping it will work out better...

Today hasn't been a good day at all tho.. 2.5 hours late to work, stuck at a gas station... Power stearing pump went out on me, and I feel soooo bummed out now!

Hi Chris,

I understand that you are still on drug trial. It takes adequate time to allow the meds to concentrate. If your symptoms have not improved satisfactorily in perhaps two to three weeks, then you should contact the prescribing physician. I am so sorry that you are experiencing this episode of restlessness. But your doctor will know what to do to help you. Best to you!

Tabi,

Should I call him after Christmas and tell him that I'm not sleeping to well? He did say I am not allowed to take more than 4mgs of this meds, and night 1 I only took 1 pill, night 2 I took 2, and I'm wondering if tonight I should take 3.... I would really love to sleep and not feel so crummy! To top it all off, my ears feel all stuffed up and I can't get them to pop:-/

I complain to much.....

MAYBE! Maybe I should take 1mg and then my other stuff in the mornings and be hyper all day!

I don't see you as complaining

Chris, I’m thinking it’s the anxiety and the worry itself that’s causing the insomnia, because if you just began taking Risperdal only a few days ago it may not have had enough time to react in your system and cause trouble with sleeping. And there may be some other psychological stress that could be a culprit. What are you doing before bedtime? Are attempting to relax naturally? Are you consuming caffeinated beverages or other stimulants before bedtime? Are there other drugs, vitamins or herbs involved? Are you listening to upbeat music, reading or watching programs on television that may be too intense? I feel that even if it is the recent meds you may be having other side effects along with the restlessness. And you really should not ever alter your prescribing physician’s recommendation for dosage (alter your meds only as you have discussed this with him/her for approval). Another idea is to call the local RX and speak with a pharmacist. Now if you begin to notice other side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headaches, lightheadedness, dizziness, clumsiness and such, please call 911 and your primary care doctor right away, and do this now, even if it’s the holiday, if you feel nervous and uncertain about how you feel now. Rather than fretting, give your doctor a call when you need to. Best to you!

i'm normally just kinda sittin here watchin tv before bed, then I go to my room and pet the cats while I am relaxing and getting to that cumfy part of the bed, I even started putting phone on silent past 2 weeks.. sometimes I'll take a hot bath and relax, but I'm out of my amazing smelling bath salt.. makes me sad

caffine is strickly stopped about 1pm, nicotine is the only other drug, but its never caused a problem with sleeping like they say it does. as for the tv, I love csi and I actually start relaxing... with me being sick, I am however, overly tired. As for changing the dosage he said I cannot take more than 4 at a time, and to mess around with the doses till I find one that works.

No problem with watching TV and petting the kitties. And the bed may not be a problem; however I’ve had to switch to the contoured foam type of mattress for that baby in a crib type of sleep, haha! Smart of you to silence the phone.

The hot bath is smart as well, and especially with aromatherapy included. You may even use a hot mist vaporizer with some type of mint solution (or try eucalyptus) involved while in bed; that’s comforting too! You may also try using your mp3 with headphones during bed rest while listening to relaxation sounds. Now you do know that nicotine and caffeine can have lingering effects with negative side effects. CSI is intense to perhaps a subconscious level though, which can pump the central nervous system. But if that program relaxes you, then good; however you may try watching cartoons, haha! Or watch something that really, really bores you; this one may encourage that sleepy state of mind. Now if the doc has provided you with a treatment plan for the meds go for it. But if you can spot any aggressive or adverse physical or emotional type of reactions please discontinue the procedure until you’ve talked with your doc. Hope this helps you and I’ll look in on you tomorrow. Sleep tight!

Hi there Chris! I hope that you’re catching up on zzzzz’s this day. I can tell you that there are a variety of ideas available for sleep and relaxation issues. Exercise is a really reliable way to enable the body to relax, and doing a good stretching before bed helps to loosen up tight muscles. I use those messaging tools for the neck, back and shoulders and there are some for the feet as well. Even just peace and quiet before bed is desirable. And I know that your sweet little one most likely has you on call at certain times during the night, so you have to have an available ear for her needs. So it’s really important for you to have a good deal of energy. Good sleeping habits free that energy for many uses. I hope for you to get plenty of rest today and don’t forget those naps in the afternoon!

Oh yeah, getting through this has got to be pressing for you and your little one. I’m so sorry for this. Hopefully, within a couple of months you will feel much better. I do hope that there is someone who can help you with your daughter today. And she may be picking up on the vibes of your emotions as well. This is a nice day to bring out the arts and crafts to keep her attention. Perhaps if you feel better later in the day you may bake cookies with your daughter? That’s a fun idea and useful activity! All in all, it is typical to feel tired and groggy for a short while, and you really don't feel the energy but try to stay alert as you find something interesting to do. But the feeling of fatigue is mostly due to the long-time needs for your mind to slow down and get some rest; it's a way of healing. As your doc has told you, modify the meds as you’ve been advised to for what you feel is best or working with you for an acceptable relief. I will look in on you tomorrow. Try to get some rest where possible.

Today I feel a whole lot better, guess I was just over drugging myself.. Glad I got it all figured out... Started taking my 50mg lamotrigine today and I have a small headache in the back of my head. maybe its just a small tension headache, or I smoked to much today... Been doing ALOT of christmas yummy mixing.. I can't bake cookies, so I did alot of no bake things so far. I think I am on a chocolate OD ATM. ha!

I feel sick still, and low on energy, but I also feel like I need to be doing something.. I've been up since 5:30am, and started cleaning around 7am ish... Been cleaning as I went along making messes too. still not sure what to think, and having some issues remembering a lot of events today and things I have said... I don't like this feeling.... I like remembering things!

Hi!

Bless the day that the side effects decreases. I am happy to know that you are celebrating the Christmas season in some way; it will help.

You are moving along strongly.

It's so satisfying to know how loving the relationship is between your daughter and the grandfather. How sweet of your father to hold such a powerful influence over her heart, and yours, most likely

I will be away from the site for a few day but I will check for pm's from time to time. So if you need support, please let me know.

Sending many well-wishes for you and your family today!

Thanks for keeping all updated with your concerns.

Come on now, can't be that far off, haha! My relationship with my dad was distant, so I can somehow understand how you feel...you be safe this holiday season as well...enjoy your time with family and friends...I hope that Santa is bountiful to your daughter...and, yes, you keep postin' but not so much that you ignore resting...I will talk later...thanks for responding!

Hey Chris, I wonder if you've asked your hcp for a convenient oral antibiotic? This infection sounds stubborn.

The inhalers usually work well but this infection is strong and may require additional help to get you better soon.

Are you peeping at med records, haha! Naughty girl! Ha! I can't fault you though.

Another idea to getting a good night's rest is to get a vapor rub for your chest and a hot mist air release with vapor. I mentioned this method to you before. Did you consider? Actually, you are going against yourself if you still smoke while having chest congestion. So the cigs should be put off until you are feeling better, if you can stand it.

You want to come into the new year well now . Get going and get that antibiotic from your doc. Doctor's orders, hon!
