How bad are they? I'm on 200mg at night. I'm not prepared to not be able to have an orgasm will which has been the case with other ssri's I've been on in the past.

I'm on Wellhtrin now and these are no sexual side effects

Sexual side effects with SSRIs have a strong correlation with age, that is, the older you are, the more you are likely to experience these side effects. I was on zoloft for 7 years, 150mg max. One thing that I noticed is that zoloft made me content with my lifestyle and relationships. When something sexual presents itself, it has the ability to alter your mental state/stability, so when your on this medication and one of these situations arises you may be physically affected (not being able to orgasm), to try and prevent a change in your mood.

My advice would be to choose your sexual partners carefully, choose someone you feel comfortable with.

I'm quite young, and I noticed sexual side effects on Zoloft--even a lack of excitement related to attraction. So it does happen.

My dr. just prescribed me zoloft after lexapro has not been a good match for me. Last night I was just researching to see if I could find a table ranking some SSRI's that listed them in the order of which had the the most reported sexual side effects. I found a powerpoint presentation of a professor at a university that specializes in psychopharmacology. If I was reading the chart correctly, I think it was listing the SSRI's listed in the following order (from most sexual dysfunction to least): celexa, paxil, effexor, zoloft, luvox, prozac, serzone. Seems like all the SSRI's effect libido in one way or another.

Wellbutrin is an atypical antidepressant (not an SSRI) and you probably know it has many uses beyond depression. It actually goes the other way and can increase your sex drive and cause weight loss. But everyone is different so it may or may not be a fit for what you need.

I'm still able to orgasm (on 200mg), but it's very difficult, only through masturbation, takes much longer (I give up at the two hour point), and I basically ahve no desire for sex and very rarely get turned on at all. Through masturbation, it's more of a physical reaction than an emotional reaction. The orgasms are usually barely worth the time and effort for me. I hope things are better for you. I am also on 150mg Wellbutrin, and have never had sexual side effects from it.

Thank you. I know there hasn't been any issues on the Wellbutrin, but in general SSRI's have made orgasms very difficult.
I will see how things go.

Just checked, I only take 50mg at night

Out of all the SSRI's I've been on, Zoloft had the most sever sexual side effects.
Complete lack of sexual motivation, stimulation took way too much effort, and orgasm was just too much damn work to even attempt.

Note: This was on 100mg/day and 150mg/day

I was on 150 mg/day of Zoloft for 6 years. I had the exact opposite side-effect that the other posters are experiencing. I would ejaculate within 3 seconds of penetration (much to my GF's chagrin). I eventually had to quit the Zoloft cold-turkey as the nausea it caused became so severe, I was vomiting 5-6 times per day. Good luck to the OP!

200mg i would say most people are in trouble with fireing the white mice. 50MG you will be ok , it depends how high or low sexed you are. When i was young the never metioned sexual side effects, and people now invent more in there heads, so dont talk yourself into impotency,

I started taking Zoloft and this was the one side effect that I wasn't worried about. Turned out to be the reason I had to go off of Zoloft. Which is really a bummer because it did help my anxiety.

I had to go off Zoloft for this too. It was like I could get SO CLOSE to an orgasm but I could never reach it.

I am about to up my dosage to 100mg.
And I am battling on the 50mg as it is. I just had to do something for the depression though

Sure you have to go up to give it a try, 100MG is the therapeutic dose in most, good look

There's lots of lit out there with SSRI's and women and lack of orgasm.

Wellbutrin, isn't an SSRI, and frankly, from what I've read, it has quite the opposite effect.

And Benzos, don't seem to have the same sexual side effects as SSRI's either.

SO, if I were to end up on a new AD, lots going on in my life right now...I hope wellbutrin would be on the table!! ((because ovary removal can cause a increased spike in lack of libido---those are on the table, in my life right now))

Wellbutrin did not have any negative sexual side effects; we have just had to add something else, because it was no longer as effective.
Citalopram has been a headache for me in the past and killed any libido. I'm hoping this combo will be ok on all fronts
