Does anyone have any experience with this?

Pristiq is very similar to Effexor, which is famous for having bad withdrawal symptoms. I will soon be switching to Lexapro (called Cipralex here in Canada) because the Pristiq is not helping. I'm hoping the transition will be smooth but I'm a bit worried about withdrawal from the Pristiq.

I've transitioned off Pristiq onto something else, and it wasn't bad at all. I think the problem comes when you transition off Effexor or Pristiq and don't replace it with a new medicine, because then you go thru full withdrawal.

That was my experience, anyway.

I had a difficult time(understatement),my pharmacist cut the pills, so I could taper slowly. I know Pristiq is not meant to be cut, a little messy. I did not take an entire cut pill at one time) and I was being switched to another medication at the same time.

Hope you new medication is helpful.

Everyone I know that has taken lexapro had pretty much the same complaint, weight gain with no change in diet. Pharma company claims it doesn't cause weight gain I am calling bs. Lexapro is in the same family as Zoloft, it is an SSRI the Prestiq is an SNRI. My pdoc just switch me the other way. Good Luck and God bless. Garry

Prestiq AND Lexapro made me gain weight like crazy!! I was a model and now I'm just fat. BOOOOO. Wondering if I switch back to Wellbutrin my OCD/Anxiety will go through the roof? I'd rather be anxious and skinny I think. Cause muffin top makes me depressed.

I've been on Lexapro for almost 2 years straight with literally no side effects ever! No nausea, no fatigue, no extra anxiety/depression, no weight gain or appetite change, no headaches...NOTHING! It has been extremely effective until recently, and has now seemed to have pooped out on me, so my pdoc is switching me to something else (Viibryd). But for the time it worked, I absolutely LOVED it!!

I've been on Lexapro in the past and recently started up the generic version, and I've never had any weight side effects with it whatsoever.

I am considering switching from Pristiq to Lexapro because of the expense. I would appreciate more input.

I have switched from paroxetine to Lexapro. No side effect or anything. But I have started Lexapro a week ago, so I can't tell anything more.

I hated the w/d from the Effexor, but I stopped suddenly so I blame it on that. As for Lexapro, I've been taking 10mg a day for over a year and I have not experienced any negative side effects.
Good luck and I hope it helps
