I am taking 15 mg of cipralex (same as lexapro in the States) - the max. dosage is 20 mg and my Dr. said I could increase it, because I am still depressed. I am scared to do it. Scared to be affecting my brain in negative ways -I have been on meds for 3 months now. Has anyone been on 20 mg? Is there a difference? Is it worth it to increase? sooo scared to be taking meds and more so, higher doses...

I'm on Lexapro for the second time. The last time, I was on 20 mg. and it worked great for me. I seriously doubt that an increase in your dosage would have a negative effect, as in side effects, if it hasn't already. However, it may not help. Psych meds are all a crap shoot. Psychiatrists will often have you try several before you find one that works for you. If you have improved some on Lexapro, there's good reason than a slight increase will be the right dosage for you.

Good luck!
