I've been on Paxil for a while and bumping up the dose recently has made my mood improve. Doesn't improve my thinking patterns or psychotic symptoms but it makes me less depressed than without.

I've been on about a handful of antidepressants and Paxil has been the best for me. Other ones made me super crazy or exhausted.

paxil gave me an euphoria.

I do miss it.

euphoria canceled out depression and anxiety.

was on it 13 weeks.

lost ability to orgasm.

randomly ejaculated whenever I had a bowl movement on the toilet.

All the best meds you have a price to pay. paxil its the least used ssri , because its the worst weight gain to most, and the sex thing combined put it low on the med list.

Not everything works the same or everyone. Lots of people go for Zoloft but that one made me batshit insane. If it doesn't work, ask for a different one. Good luck!

I'm 46, Prozac pooped out on me, Lexapro made me crazed, so pdoc decided to try Paxil CR. also had tried Viibbryd, which made me feel like a zombie. Was hoping to find some positive experiences with Paxil.

I've tried prozac, Zoloft, Effexor, and another two before I went on Paxil. Maybe you'll have similar luck? I hope so.
Thanks for this!

I see , he jumped from the standard ssri Prozac which is a great med, to Lexapro that is the the best for most . missed out the sertraline ,.celexa, and went straight to the last normally scripted. From Prozac you would have been ideal to straight tapper over to sertraline with no bad effects. Read about ssris and the best effects people write about before seeing your doc, so when he says x type of med you say what about this one doc.You will be surprised at how many times they say OK

It's been 4 weeks, and I'm actually feeling better! I hope it lasts - doing group therapy, too, and am being referred to a therapist for one on one therapy.

Hi-

He can also add Wellbutrin. I dated a pdoc resident for a bit and he told me they would prescribe an SSRI at night and wellbutrin in the am....In fact that is what he took, because he was "chronically slightly depressed".

Ask you pdoc.

Yes, this is what he stated. He was about to start a child psychiatry fellowship...major focus--infants.

Wellbutrin can also be helpful for depression when taken on its own. It has a good anti-depressant effect for many without having to take an SSRI also. And Wellbutrin alone does not have the sexual side effects of SSRIs and also usually does not cause any weight gain. It sounds like you're doing well on Paxil, though, and I hope that continues.
