My doctor is going to prescribe me Rozerem (ramelteon)
for my insomnia but since this a new type class of medication that recently hit the market does anyone have any feedback on this? Good or Bad. Thanks |

I never use it for men as it lowers testosterone levels with regular use. Stop in on my weekly chat at 1230 MTN time and you will hear about this stuff...

Tried it...Felt like I drank a bottle of booze, but with out all the fun. I did sleep some, but the hangover effect was the worst of any sleeping pill I've ever tried (including Chloral Hydrate)! My doc was pushing it because, I guess, it's not supposed to be habit forming. I can see why - I would never take it a second time, let alone make a habit of it. I prefer Sonata or Ambien.

My doctor said it has a short active life so it should help me fall a sleep which is were I need help the most. I have tried Ambien and Lunesta but my memory started to go flakey on me and I had to keep raising the dosage. The one medication that really knocked me out for days at a low dose was trazadone so I am hoping it's nothing like that. Thanks |

It definitely made me feel very tired the next day, but it also did actually put me to sleep. I thought the after effects were way worse than Ambien is for me. That's why I like Sonata. It also has a short active life - the specs state that you only need to be able to devote about 4 hours of sleep once you take it (unlike Ambien which, I think, is 7 to 8) so I can even take Sonata if it's very late or if I wake up and can't get back to sleep. Sonata never leaves me feeling tired the next day, for me anyway. It also seems to work very quickly (20 minutes or so). I've just been taking it for so long (over two years) that it's not always effective at putting me to sleep. Even though, Sonata is still the drug that works best for me.
You might see if your doc will give you a sample of the Rozerem to try out - maybe it won't have that nasty hangover effect on you. I always ask for a sample first since I have such trouble with sleeping pills working for me - I don't like to commit the big bucks unless I know it's going to work. It's always worth a try.

I tried Rozerem for occasional sleep issues but I found it ineffective . It really didnt help put me to sleep . Honestly Benedryl would have worked better. No hangover effect for me though .
Hope that helps . Sher |
