When I took Zoloft, the horrible nausea subsided in a little after a week. I started taking Lexapro and the only thing I have noticed so far is that I've been dizzy when standing up or from bending over, but it subsided after a week, until I raised the dose. I would give it a couple more days, then maybe call the dr.

GI stuff is usually side effects that clear up. Very common too, although nausea is the more common one. It might pass.

I have had GI issues with Lexapro as well. I have been on Lexapro in the past for about 1.5 months and I noticed the GI issues did go away.

I am now back on Lexapro, 2 weeks in this time. I am having some GI issues still but they seem to be going away now.

Your better choice is check with your pharmacist about side effects, they can give you an idea of what is normal and what isn't. Oftentimes the docs are not up on all the side effects. Most importantly they may not be aware of what else you are taking. If you go to the same pharmacist, they can help you make sure there are no strange interactions. The pharmacist can also tell you if pepto is appropriate for the meds you are taking. The one that always gets to me, there are several psych drugs that say you should eat grapefruit a or drink grapefruit juice while on the meds. Couldn't figure out why for the longest time. Turns out a chemical in grapefruit enhances the effect of a chemical in the meds. Go figure!

I'm on Lexapro and I noticed the same thing. Now I've been on it only for about 2 weeks now and I still noticed that I've had diarrhea and sometimes I will have constipation also. At first the lexapro did cause some bleeding but then it went away in the next few days. I still am having problems with with diarrhea somewhat but otherwise it's a lot better than it was the first few days.

I have the same problem as you do. The constipation is horrible... but it's getting better.

if you have had anxiety for ever you never suffer constipation , the opposite is the truth, so when you start a med for anxiety and you get constipation its brutal. I think any long term anxiety suffer has not the pipe work for constipation, having a life time of loose bowel movements, its like trying to squeeze in a size 8 shirt when your size 14.

My daughter takes Lexapro, 10mg, and she recently started telling me her stomach bothers her, and she sometimes she gets diarrhea. Not every day, but a couple of times a week. She's been on it for a year almost, but on 10 mg only 6 months. For a kid this is likely the equivalent of 20 mg for an adult, so I'm now thinking the lower dose might be better for a while...Otherwise it is very very helpful.

My entire life I've had challenges with constipation. What can I say, I prefer steaks, cheeses, pastas with no tomato sauce over salads and cooked veggies. Recently. I've notice my constipation is in a parallel cycle to my menstrual cycle, sorry if TMI.
A while back I found a tea from Traditional Medicinals called "Smooth Move". Works like a charm. A cup of tea and no more constipation, no cramping or mishaps. I have some in my travel bag when I go out of town.
Good Luck!

Don´t you mean shouldn´t drink grapefruit juice? Grapefruit juice and meds in general is not a good combo.? I know that your are strongly adviced to stay away from grapefruit, if you´re on certain heartmeds ect.
