with a severe chronic pain & sleep disorder i take ambien cr every night, if i don't....sleep doesn't occurr.

even with it, i don't always sleep, like tonight. woke up at 2am, its nearly 5.

every day i wake up having NO memory of the night before. if there is a piece of memory, it seem like a dream.
i call people in the middle of the night.
have conversations.
intimacy.
eating.
send emails and don't know it.

however, at the time these things are happening, i swear...i think i know what i'm doing.

lunesta doesn't work.
rozerm doesn't work.
other AD make me overly drugged the next day.
valerian root doesn't work.

does this happen to anyone else? why is my memory GONE when i wake up?

thanks,
summer.

My best friend is on ambien and she has the same side effect. She'll bake cakes, have conversations with her husband, send emails, shop online, all without remembering it the next day. Some of it is possibly because she takes the ambien and doesn't go straight to bed. She stays up and doing things until she starts to feel tired.

I can't answer the why, I just wanted to let you know that I've heard of a lot of people having the amnesia side effect on ambien. I'd think it would be kind of scary to do stuff without remembering doing it.

Ambien, and many benzodiazepines interfere with the storage of new memories, and this is a very common problem with ambien. I tell people to take it and get in bed, and only get up to use the restroom.
