Who has taken Ambien before? My doc just Rx'd it to me. I have never taken a "hypnotic" before. I was using Seroquel for sleep but the day after fog I was experiencing was THE WORST (not to mention all the other possible side effects).

I've been on Ambien for years and take 20-30mg a night along with a host of other drugs. Be most careful about the day after forgetfulness and be extra sure not to leave your house after taking the Ambien. Take it and go to bed fairly soon after because it usually makes you go to sleep fairly quick. Let me know if I can answer anything else about it, I've taken it since it was a new drug and even tried Ambien CR but didn't like it as well.

Take care,
Lori

I'm on 10mg and love it. I could never fall asleep until the early hours of the morning before, and now I'm gone within 20 mins. of taking it.

It works really well.

Make sure to get a FULL eight hours of sleep when you take it. Otherwise, you'll be feeling groggy and confused when you wake up. It works well, but it really knocks you out!

Take care,

Ambien anyone? Ambien anyone? Ambien anyone?

All excellent tips! I really would make sure there's someone to watch you until you know how the drug will affect you. When my sister-in-law's house mate took it, she'd drive to the corner store, buy beer and drink it. She's never been a drinker and was getting annoyed at SIL because she thought that it was SIL leaving beer cans all over. It took them a long time to figure out that she was doing it.

Also, I wouldn't talk on the phone after you take it. I got myself into some trouble that I did not remember by answering the phone after I'd taken the medications.

The part of Ambien that works puts you to sleep within 10 minutes, so take it while you're sitting on the edge of the bed.

IDK about Ambien itself, but the Ambien CR causes sleep walking, sleep driving and sleep eating Ambien anyone?

Good wishes! Hopefully within a few weeks it will have adjusted your sleep cycle and you won't need anything! Ambien anyone?

Ambien works for me if all surroundings are conducive to relaxation. It by no means knocks me out like the old school sedatives.

I have taken Ambien cr and the regular Ambien. Both worked for me..but i had to go right to bed and not talk to anyone because I would forget what I said and I also needed a full 8 hours of sleep or I would feel "foggy" the next morning. Sometimes I would get a headache for part of the morning..that's only if I didnt get a full nights sleep. My opinion, I wouldn't stay on it. I think it does wonders to regulate the body to go to sleep at a certain hour and wake at a certain hour the same time every day and night. Good luck !
