Do any of you take part of one med in the morning and the rest in the evening? My pdoc just put me on that particular regimen today and I've never tried it before. Does it help you stay more stable throughout the day, or do you even notice a difference?

I've always just taken all my meds at bedtime.

I take one 100mg tablet in AM and now half of one at PM. 50mg. I use to take i 100mg in AM and one in PM, but pdoc and I found the minimum therapeutic dose is still working fine with me, and it's been months, past the time that things would be apparent I'd need to go back to original dosage, 200mgs per day.
Many meds work to one's advantage in divided doses, prevents peaks and drops, this also is done with other meds, not just AD's and mood stabilizers. It's also easier on the body besides the mind.
Lots of luck with this, hang in there, things shall work out in time.

I've nearly always been on divided doses of my meds (not sure why, but I guess when I was on heaps meant I wasn't taking so much at once)... Never noticed any diff on my AD, which has just been changed to 1x a day, but certainly with my maintainence antianxiety ones it helped. Actually, never noticed any diff when I was on a mood stabiliser either- I used to choose whether I took all at once or divided the dose (depending on how my stomach would cope with each dose) and there was never a diff... I know that with just about every med around (incl "non-drowsy/non-sedating" ones e.g. antihistamines) I have severe drowsy/sedating side-affects so the split doses prob helped eliminate as much of that as poss too...Don't know if any of this helps or not?!

My doc put me on luvox, once at night. I had to split it into twice a day, since it seemed to wear off in the afternoon. It's working much better now!

My doc also wanted me to take all my klonopin in the morning, and then just one at night. Did not work! I take it three times a day instead, which she knows and says is ok.

So, I guess it depends on what you're taking?? Or how you feel about it? I remember having a doc that wanted me to take heaps of medicine at bedtime, which I was too afraid to do(I'm afraid to sleep).

So far I'm brutally sick (sweats/chills, throwing up, etc) and having a hard time staying awake throughout the day after starting this divided dose business!

Feeling sick like that is more likely the drug itself than the divided dose, I'd think. What is it you're taking? It could be that your dose was raised too high for you, or that it was raised too fast. Or, it could actually be unrelated -- sometimes I've come down with a bug just at the right time to make me think it was a drug reaction.

A lot of drugs are given in divided doses. Some are short acting, and need multiple doses; others are given in divided doses to help maintain a more stable blood level. It depends on teh drug.

Good luck.
