As a pharmacist I can say that if any pharmacist says that they have never made a mistake in filling a prescription they are either lying, or it is their first day. Most pharmacists adopt a triple check system when filling a prescription catches most of these mistakes, but occasionally they will slip by. If your medication looks different, always check with the pharmacist to make sure that a mistake wasn't made.

Also, I would not buy medication on-line without getting a prescription from a doctor who actually sees you. You need someone who can follow your progress and adjust dosages as necessary. One cannot be totally objective when self-prescribing, you need to be monitored, even if you have been taking the same medication for years.

Just my opinion. - Cam

I hate seeing doctors too, but I'm glad I have to see my doc to get my meds. If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't have known that Wellbutrin was causing my horrid depression last spring. I was on it for a month and fell into the worst black hole I've ever been in, but I was too messed up and confused to realize it was the medication. I had to go to my doc to get the prescription refilled. She saw the state I was in, knew I was having an extremely bad reaction to the medication and told me to stop taking it immediately. I am so glad she did that. It scares me to think what might have happened if I had continued taking those pills.

So, I definitely think that going to the doc is the lesser of two evils.

Here is the Dateline piece about counterfeit drugs at Pharmacies. This is scary because in this scenario we have a prescription and go to our local pharmacy.

Here is a link on the risks of purchasing meds on line. Here is where it is discussed also about counterfeiting and other risks to purchasing on line.

IMO...the lesser of 2 evils is to do the right thing and buck up and go to your doc. Get the recommended dose of your meds that way so it's monitored and doing for you what they should be doing. The alternative is getting screwed by a company that is not selling what they say they are, and you becoming more ill by taking the "easy way out"(your words).

A short time of being uncomfortable sure beats a long time of illness and other problems.

Cam, I should have mentioned, on the news segment I saw this on, it said that a lot of pharmacies (including the big ones) use people who aren't pharmacists or trained in pharmaceuticals.

I just looked for a link, and found that the show in which this segment aired was 20/20. There have been some responses to this segment:

ABCNews.com: The Blotter
CVS Response
American Society of Health-System Pharmacists' Response

I've ordered them and had no problem...why?
I received blister packed pills with the name brand printed on them and the box they originally came in.
I've used them for a couple of years and they are real, not counterfeit, unless there are placebo pills can make you sleep like ambien and relieve anxiety like xanax.

Not every online pharmacy is out to rip you off or harm you. But there are a lot that are, and the fact is, ordering meds online from a company with which you're not familiar is risky. There are many people who didn't have a good outcome of taking that risk.

Would I buy meds online? You bet I would and I do all the time. I live in a small town and my primary doctor will not prescribe antianxiety drugs for me and isn't into experimentation on what would work for me best. That's not his fault. He's not a psychiatrist, just a fantastic family doctor. I do a lot of research on different antianxiety pills and antidepressants, and then I'm more likely to buy them from overseas pharmacies. The ones I've dealt with are very reliable. I've had some stopped by Customs but that apparently isn't a big deal. I just say throw them away or whatever you want to do with them, notify the supplier of the seizure, and I usually get my order sent again and in quick order. The prices are about half or less of what I'd have to pay to a US pharmacy.

Maybe I'm just not a cautious person and I know that some of the things I order without a prescription amount to breaking the law, but no one is perfect and I live in a hellish situation that no one I know in this town knows about with an alcoholic wife who can be very psychotic at times. I married for better or worse and deep down she's a great person, so I am not about to do what most people in this country think is the "acceptable" thing to do and just file for divorce. That, to me, would be taking the easy way out, thinking only of myself, and just neglecting what our social standards should be in this country. I guess I'm just prophesizing now and don't mean to, but the usual response of "throw the bum" out is the biggest cop-out and most self-centered thing I could do. I'm the only one that has to deal with it and as long as I can deal with the situation by ordering meds that make things more bearable, I'll do it. The laws of our country also put speed limits on public highways, but I've read that there are only about 1% of the people that drive that follow that law. People take deductions on their income tax that are illegal and without the slightest feeling of guilt. People drink and drive. Those, to me, are more harmful to our society than what I'm doing.

So, sorry to get into such a diatribe, but the answer is: YES, i WOULD BUY MEDS ONLINE, I DO BUY MEDS ONLINE, AND I WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO.
