My pdoc increased my dose to 600mg per day.

I seem to have a general "out of it" feeling as well as a feeling of detachment from myself.... it is a little hard to explain. I'm mean I'm sort of drowsy, but it feels worse and more complicated than drowsiness.

Did anyone experience anything like this on Lithium?

For me lithium took awhile to "kick in" but helped as a mood stablizer. Yes, I too felt kind of out of it. Some of that went away as my body adjusted to the med.

The results of lithium going to toxic levels is no fun. Since everyone's body processes the lithium differently dosages for optimum results are not the same.

Be sure to keep your pdoc informed of all "symptoms" you notice and any additional meds you might be perscribed by another physician.

Out of curiosity (if I may ask), is Lithium new for you, Pinksoil? Is it safe to presume that you've already tried Depakote or another mood stabilizer?

My curiousness arises due to the fact that my mother incurred many complications from being on Lithium long-term (approximately 25 years).

I hope the adverse effects subside quickly...

This is the 1st time I have been on Lithium. I have been taking it for about one month.

I have never tried Depakote or Tegretol.

I was on Trileptal for one year, but it didn't do anything except alleviate my anxiety a bit. It is not surprising that it didn't work, as Trileptal is rarely used as a 1st line treatment for mood disorders-- and it usually used in conjunction with another drug.

Currently I'm not feeling any more adverse effects from the Lithium.

Oh except for the fact that I'm horribly depressed and it's not working.

I'm suspecting that it may have to be raised but I have to get my levels checked and that's a whole other story detailed in the psychotherapy forum. (Post title: "I fired my pdoc")

I felt like I had no feelings, they were stable, but I still didn't like how I felt. I kind of felt like a zombie - so no longer taking it. Just started on Lamictal, so hopefully I'll do better.
