Yep! You pretty much explained it thats what it is ,But dose it work?Well ive been on it for 3 months now and i can say for me it worked great!! Im bipolar and was having a hard time with my dep. Im not someone who likes to take strong meds. that knock you out or put you into a zombie zone .So Deplin was prefect for me there are know side effects that I can tell of but one After taking my deplin I enter a zone of happiness maybe its all in my mind but it sure feels good .

The only down side is its new and my insur. dose not pay for it .it cost $44 for 30 7.5mg tab . I take it two times a day im on SSD for my bipolar and dont have alot of money but im putting out $88 amonth for it it well wroth every penny .

Hmm...I've actually never heard of it. Might be something to ask about. Interesting - thanks for the info.

Is it only useful if you are already taking anti-depressants? Or can it help on its own?

It's a B vitamin forerunner that helps with the synthesis of new neurotransmitters and thus the Deplin just helps the anti-D do its thing better. People taking anti-depressants often seem to be low in that needed B vitamin (which you body makes but some people's have difficulty) so this just boosts things a bit. But if you're not taking an anti-depressant, there's nothing to boost.
