My doctor put me on 50 mg. per day of Zoloft for mild depression and severe anxiety. For the first four days, I'm to take 25 mg. (1/2 a pill) (I'm on day 4 right now, and I take my pill at night) and from then on out, I take one 50 mg. pill per day.

So far (I realize it's early yet), I haven't had any of the more common side effects other than having a hard time falling asleep, then I'm incredibly sleepy during the day. I've never slept well, but I normally wake up eventually during the day. Now, I'm so exhausted, I nearly fall asleep at my desk every day. Will this ever wear off? Will it get better before it gets worse??

It often takes a few weeks to adjust to a new drug. I know it took me several weeks to get used to the Zoloft. Have you told your Dr. about the restlessness at night? Mine prescribed Xanax the first few weeks in an effort to help regulate my sleep cycle.

I have been on Zoloft for a long time. I have to be on sleeping meds as I have insomnia anyways, but being on Zoloft it made it a little worse.
Give it time to work, it's hard in the beginning of any med...just talk to your Dr.

Have you thought about trying to take it in the morning instead of the evening?

I just started Zoloft 2 weeks ago and had the same thing when I took it at night. So I take it in the morning. Seems to help.

good luck! Zoloft helped me through, and i was very impatient until it finally kicked in, but i really appreciated the drug.

My doctor prescribed my ambien to get a good nights sleep and not feel groggy in the morning. I must say it does help. I was on celexa for years and was doing ok with up until 2 months ago. My anxiety slowly got worse each day, now it's to the point where I have severe anxiety all the time unless I take Ativan, which helps. Been on zoloft for about 3 weeks. 25 mg week one, 50 week 2, and I'm about to start 100 mg tomorrow. I've heard good things about zoloft so I hope my anxiety will decrease soon. It has really taken a toll on me and my family.
