I guess I'm looking for info on Seroquel. I told my pdoc that I thought the Lithium wasn't working the way it used to. I'm taking 1200mg of that.

He didn't want to take me off of it so he put me on the Seroquel - 25mg. once a day and I can increase it to 50 if need be.

I'm also taking 2700mg of Neurontin per day for my leg and back.

I don't know much about Seroquel. Have checked online, but I'm looking for the personal experience. Weight gain, side effects, etc.

Any and all help will be appreciated. Thanks, everyone.

I haven't personally taken Seroquel, but a good friend of mine has, and it knocks him cold in about 15 minutes. If we're on the phone and he goes to take his meds, I know I only have about 10 minutes left before I have to hang up! :-)

My husband takes 50mg of Seroquel. It knocks him out in about an hour. He's been on it for a year, so if he's lucky he can fight it for 2 hours. He usually sleeps about 8 hours or more. Also, very few people suffer from coughing as a side effect. He coughs a lot. His t said he could lower the dose to see if it was the Seroquel causing it, but we're not taking that chance. I think she said about 10-20% of Seroquel users experience coughing as a side effect. Also, sometime he gets hand tremors. Nothing major and they go away after a while.

Hope that helps!

I take 100mg of Seroquel for insomnia. It takes about an hour to kick in. It helps me to fall asleep, but doesn't help me to STAY asleep. But it's better than nothing. I don't have any type of side effects from it. Some nights it doesn't work at all.

Everyone is different, and I hear that most people love it for its sedative effects. Once you get above 100mg, the sedative effects tend to diminish and more of the anti-psychotic effects kick in.

Good luck!

Sandy

Hey, Candy........thanks for the info. The 25 mg that I am on does nothing for me, not even drowsy.

I talked to my pdoc today and he wants me to try 50 mg......one 25 mg in the morning and one at night. He gave me some Lithium and the dosage kicked me up to 1300mg now.

Hopefully, it won't knock me out.

{{{Oneday}}}}}}} thank you.

Amazing how some ppl get sleepy on it, and I haven't yet. One thing I don't need is a cough (lol) and unfortunately the Lithium creates some tremors already.

Thank you for helping me.

Hi,
My psychiatrist prescribed thorozine for me when I was going to have my neck fusion surgery to calm me down. I ended up staying on it after that...don't know exactly why but I did. It ended up that I had a parkisnon's effect from taking that with compozine which was terrifying. That was when I was put onto seroquel. I was taking it 25mg 3 x/day. I really never felt anything, which for me is unusual because I always have side effects to almost every med. I took it for almost 4 years, & one day, I just decided to stop all my meds except for my migraine med. I had no withdrawal when I stopped taking it either. I was stupid the other day & was trying to find some way to escape my stress chest pain. I took a few (more than 3) after not taking it for months. It relaxed my so much that I slept for hours, which was interesting since I didn't feel anything before.

The effects are body dependent, and even that depends on where your body is at when the med is taken
