I am a bit bummed that I had to change AD's but the Emsam was breaking me out something awful. Something in the adhesive I'm allergic to. The drug was a wonder drug but I couldn't handle the rash. So I switched to Cymbalta. Are any of you on it? What should I look for as side effects? I imagine it will be sedating as I'm supposed to take it at bedtime.

jbug, I'm sorry you had to discontinue Emsam due to the rash. My daughter is allergic to adhesives, so I know the rash can be awful.

I don't have any answers about Cymbalta, but I was wondering if you explored taking the Emsam drug orally? If it was so successful for you in a patch, maybe it would also be successful taken by mouth.

I don't think that they make it orally. But it was a thought. I have taken Cymbalta before and done well on it. The reason I chose Cymbalta over the many other drugs was my fibro and I've heard it helps with that. Last night I slept ok.

Hi,

Cymbalta is the first AD i've ever taken that worked for me. It helps with the fibro and it helps with the depression. I was having crying jags and feeling totally hopeless before I started it one or two years ago - sadly I can't remember when I started it. but, i'm not depressed!! Slight fog beats suicidal depression don't you think! =)

Sad to make such goofy jokes, but it is really true. I appreciate cymbalta though I do have to take a large dose.

So far the Cymbalta is working. Not sure if its the Cymbalta that caused the rash but I got a rash shortly after starting it so the pdoc had me stop it for a couple of days and then start it again and see if the rash came back. So far so good. But it hasn't done anything bad so that's good.
