There has been a thread floating around about what people wear when they go to see their T. I was wondering what people's Ts wear. I noticed last week that mine was in shorter skirt one day and then the next session she was in jeans and a nice shirt. Usually she is semi-formal but this was definitely the first time I saw her in jeans. It was kind of startling. What does your T wear?

Mine has never worn jeans either. Usually a long skirt in the summer, slacks in the winter. Occasionally a casual suit. So never too casual, more business casual with a slightly more flow-y quality than the typical office wear. She always looks nice, but I like that she isn't too trendy - it would make me feel pressured to dress up for her, too.

I know someone who is a T and she told me she tried to not wear too much jewelry and tried to wear loose, non-formfitting clothes to work. So I think Ts do put some thought into it!
Thanks for this!

My T seemed to dress up a bit more in the spring - skirts, nice pants. Summer, she's more casual, and I like it - tunics and capris. She also has this long pendant necklace that she sometimes wears, and she will play with it, but only when she's talking.
Thanks for this!

Mine wears professional stuff...dresses, slacks, nice shirts, etc. I've seen her in jeans a couple of times. They were both Fridays, and i was probably her last appointment of the day those times, so it wasn't too big of a shock for me. She always dresses really nicely, though.

I think that some of us also wrote about what our Ts wear in the other thread, but it's an interesting subject, so I'm glad you started a new thread about it.

I am always paying attention to what my T wears because she seems to have an endless number of outfits (skirts and dresses) and in about 6 years, I think I only saw the same outfit twice! She dresses kind of formally, and likes belts and jewelry, just the opposite of me. I used to think that I would be more comfortable if she dressed more like me.

One day, she apologized because she was wearing casual work-out clothes. She said she had no time to change. I felt more at ease during that session because her dress more closely matched mine. I felt too in awe of her when she looked so sophisticated. As I got to know her better, I didn't notice her clothes as much because I felt connected to her regardless of what she wore. I still know that she dresses way different from the way I do, though!

My T wears long flowing dresses or skirts. One time she wore pants and I almost fainted! She tends to wear turquoise or amethyst jewelry.

I think my head would explode if I saw her in jeans!

pdoc wears the suit/jacket/tie ensemble. he has a really nice cufflink collection, but i think he's only started that recently.

austin-T wears pants with a nice shirt, but isn't formal like pdoc. austin-T has the most gorgeous collection of shirts i've ever seen a guy own, and i have to remind myself to stop staring because otherwise he will think i am checking him out. i dont have a boyfriend, but i would be in heaven if i had those shirts hanging in my wardrobe. they're so well cute and made. i wish i could live with that collection of shirts.

Haha, I always say my T has terrible clothes - really non-descript stuff that makes her look kind of professionally sloppy. I've noticed she's gotten a little better about this but she used to sometimes wear things that the lining would stick out of and it would make me laugh to myself. She usually looks relatively put together now. I've never seen her in jeans. I love that she has little concept of style because it is so low-pressure for me. She does have an amazing engagement ring though (kind of hard to mess that one up).

My therapist would dress nicely, but not in a suit and tie. He'd wear a nice shirt or sweater, dress pants and shoes or boots. I think I even remember a flannel type of shirt one time. So he was relaxed, but professional as well.

Mine wears skirts, dresses, trousers and she has some really nice tops. She never really looks casual though, sometimes in the middle of professional and casual.

She always looks pretty good, but 1 thing I did notice is her hair is never out of place, it's always perfect.

I have two at this time. One wears slacks, jeans or skirts with a nice blouse. The other is tattoos from head to toe. And she dresses in jeans alot along with strange outfits. And she does this twirl with the back of her hair that is so weird.

I like this thread. My T wears slacks or skirts (some are really cute). She wore jeans once and I thought it was funny that it sort of affected my session. I kept asking myself why is she wearing jeans? When I first started she wore a little more professional shoes and then she started wearing clogs. I would say she dresses like she shops from the JJill store. She sometimes wears an item that is dated I guess I would say. What I do like is that she is not thin and a little on the plump side and she doesn't care. For example her upper arms are a bit flabby (as are most women over 45) and she so confidently wears sleeveless tops. That makes me feel better.
Isn't it interesting how a T dresses can affect ones therapy. Especially if they dress out of the ordinary for them. My old T use to wear this one shirt I hated. The color made him look sickly and it was just a shirt that should be thrown out. Everytime he wore it I felt agiatated. Weird huh

That is SO awesome! Just out of curiosity: is she in a private practice? Not that I agree with this, but I can't see many practices allowing visible tattoos on T's.

What are they going to do? Make the T get laser therapy or something to obliterate the tatoo? I think that would be considered discrimination or something, lol. Tatoos seem very common these days and I bet lots of T's have them (maybe just not in plain view). Maybe I should ask my T if he has a tatoo. Maybe I don't want to know...

My T sometimes wears khakis--like beige twill pants. This is common for guys in my area and is considered kind of dressed up, as I live in probably the most casual large city in the U.S. Other times he has worn jeans. I like when he wears jeans, because he often wears cowboy boots then, and that looks kind of cool! But mostly he just wears pants, sometimes with shirts that button, sometimes T-shirts, sometimes Hawaiian print type shirts. In the colder months, he often wears plaid, flannel shirts, a frequent "uniform" on guys around here. Sometimes he is more dressed up with a vest sweater over a shirt and sometimes a tie peeking out from beneath. These are often in matching shades, like he has green combo (my favorite color) another one that is purple--such a T color! I think on those days he may be going to a client's legal meeting. The very first time I met him, he had on dress shoes, and that kind of weirded me out. He doesn't wear those often. Once I had a rare weekend therapy session and he wore T-shirt and hiking shorts. This is very common where I live.

My family T also dresses casually, often with T-shirts and khakis. I think he has worn a T-shirt and running shorts before (he is a runner). We often had weekend sessions so were probably catching him at his most casual.

My PNP wears kind of exotic, ethnic outfits with long skirts and interesting jewelry.

My daughter's T, an art therapist, wears funky, casual, well "arty" clothes. I like the way she dresses.

This is true, and I totally agree with allowing tattoos to be in sight, but I know that some places don't allow it. They'll either make them cover it somehow, or they just won't hire them. Maybe it's just an NC thing, though. My T and I have talked about tattoos quite a bit, and she said she would like to have one, but she's worried about that pain.

My T dresses somewhere between casual and professional. I like the way she dresses - kind of young, which makes me feel more at ease when I'm with her

My pdoc wears designer scrubs - you know scrubs with animals or flowers on them. I thought it was a little weird at first but I guess it makes her comfortable and she does work in a hospital.

My main T dresses semi casual, almost always black pants, white shirt, and a casual blazer. I don't think I've ever seen her wear jewelery, not even earings.

My addictions Dr. is really dressy, she has the most amazing collection of really pretty and unusual dresses I've ever seen. She's got a real sense of style, except when it comes to her hair. She's badly in need of a stylist.
Oh and she never wears jewelery either.

Come to think of it, none of them wear jewelery - maybe it's a T thing.

My T wears jewelry! Chains and belts. I guess belts aren't jewelry, but I always notice unusual belts because I never wear them.

My T wears jewlery as well, more earthtone ones. Some of them are funky but I like them.

She complemented me on one of my necklaces one time, and I told her I had made it. So the next week I brought her in 2 sets (necklaces and bracelets) that I made for her. She said that her policy is not to take gifts but then said that she would take them.

I wrote her and email later apologizing saying I would never have made them and brought them in had I known that. She responded back that the jewlery was beautiful, that I was very talented. Then she said that she loved them and was very happy to have them, and thanked me.

I just started making jewlery, its very relaxing and fun.

Fallenangel337. She is a counsler with the family services where i go. She came in from the West coast in 2006 to help in the relief after the storm. She said she is addicted to tattoos and she is proud to show them off. She has some pretty tat's too. Sometimes she gives the background on how a tattoo on her came to be and for some reason it always relates to what were talking about. Makes me want to get a tat but im too scared of needles.
Thanks for this!
