T just called to make sure I was okay! That's a first, and it felt so good. We only spoke for a minute, but she really made sure that I was being honest with her, that I am doing okay after what she called my "debilitating sadness" earlier this week. I told her that our session on Wednesday seemed to have really worked, she said, "It was good to touch base." T sells herself short - we did so much more than touch base, and it made all the difference!

I thank God for my T!

Exotic Of course you can be!

It does feel so good to feel better. I can't believe how low I was, and I must have been a wreck for T to call and check up on me! I am dog-tired after working a very long day, looking forward to sleeping a lot this weekend and basically processing everything that's gone down this week.

I realized that when T said on the phone today that "it's good to touch base," she wasnt' talking about our emergency session 2 days ago, she was talking about why she called me. It was indeed good to touch base! After this week, I am spoiled with T time - she called me Monday morning to see if I could come in a little earlier. Monday evening was our first double session. Then I called and left an SOS message on Wednesday morning, she called back a few hours later, and then I saw her Wednesday evening. And then she called today! That's a lot of contact with T for one week, I feel special, and it feels good to be able to just take that feeling in and not worry about being too needy!

Dreamseeker,

I really hear a difference you this week, you sound so good even during the tougher times. It is like you have hope for yourself and that is so important.

I think this weekend you should of course get lots of sleep, but do other nurturing stuff. For me it is like staying in these Hanna long johns all day and eating comforting foods and just doing some relaxing stuff that you enjoy. Or maybe you like to go for a walk or something. I think you should reward yourself somehow for all the hard work you did this week. It was amazing hearing your story.

Wow, Exotic - thank you! I think it's hard for me to see the difference in myself, I feel like I'm still sorting out everything that happened this week. But that makes me feel very good to know that you think I sound like I have hope for myself!

It just so happens that my birthday is on Sunday, so I am going to brunch with friends, and I may go see a movie as well. I plan on doing a lot of R&R tomorrow!

Thanks also for saying that it was amazing to hear my story. Oftentimes on here, I read others' stories and am so moved by them, and I think my story seems so insignificant and small next to other people's tragedies and triumphs. So that means a lot to me, Exotic!

Thank you all so much!

I slept 9 hours and feel like I could sleep more, I'm just completely worn out! I'm going to be semi-productive today and then rest, then enjoy my birthday tomorrow with friends.

Have a terrific weekend, everyone!

Happy birthday dream !!!! Hope it's a great one.

As far as the call that is really awesome, there must have been a great sense of security in knowing that she was really, really, there for you at such a rough time. I think that is key in the therapy relationship when in an intense time of need; unfortunately some therapist totally miss the mark leaving you feeling like you can't totally trust them. Sounds like you have a great therapist

OMG! There is no better birthday present to give yourself then SLEEP!

I agree with what hangingon said, can I repeat it? It must feel so secure and safe to be able to do such intense work with your t and to then to have her really there for you during this sensitive time. I do think some therapists, mine to be exact, really miss the mark and leave you feeling like they cannot be trusted when there is a time of need.

She is really special
And so are you

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Thanks for this!

hangingon and Blue... thank you! I think, as rough as this week has been for me, that it really has taken T's and my relationship to another level. I trusted her at the beginning of the week when we did the EMDR, but I really put major trust in her on Wednesday when she wanted to again do the EMDR, since that was (in my mind, at least) what had stirred up those horrible feelings in me. And I also told T some really painful thoughts, and she held those thoughts for me and helped me feel that it was all going to be okay. I wish everyone would have a T like my T! I'm excited now to continue this work with T, even though I know it's not all going to be easy. But now that I know, without any doubt, that T will always be there for me (as well as you all, and my friends that have really propped me up this week) - I know that I can continue down this road of healing. I'm not sure how long the road is, but I don't think that matters so much to me right now - it's who is along with me on the journey, no matter how hilly or bumpy the road gets, that counts!
