I was in T today and I told her how one day when I was talking about what was going on in my life I told her only the good things because I didn't want her to think that my life was total crap. I know that Ts will often use our language to make us feel heard. But my T obviously had a hard time reflecting back what I said because she didn't want to use that word. She was like "So you didn't want me to think your life was (slight pause) crap." She obviously does not use that word a lot and it was funny to hear her have trouble saying it. She seems so prim and proper.

Googley your post made me smile. Surely a T of all people knows! that into every life, a little crap must fall.

Some times only the brown words will do..... !!

I can just picture your T having a problem using that word.....must have been funny.

I try to choose my words so carefully now as when my anger was overflowing with my husband, so were my 4 letter words.....it just became a habit. I personally like the word "crap" & use it now quite often in place of it's other option. Feel it's a nicer way of expressing the other option.

Love to see how people handle words like that when they do come up in the conversation. I will never forget the time when I was together with my family (parents & grandparents......I am 57 & my grandparents were in their 80's at the time....many years ago). I was irritated about something my grandmother had said & blurted out that it was a bunch of BS. My grandmother had no idea what BS stood for & my grandfather graciously explained that it stood for "Bologna Soup". I had the coolest grandpa who always knew just the right way to handle things.

It is always interesting to see how people handle & react to certain words that we feel best express what we are saying.

Thanks for sharing cute situation with your T.

I still love that my T was not a native English speaker and I taught her "ornery" and she tried to reflect it and it came out sounding like "ordinary". I told her, "I am a lot of things but ordinary isn't one of them!"

I used the word "craptastic" one day (ok, on several occasions), and now my therapist uses it a lot...I think it is a favorite of his.
Thanks for this!

I now have a new word in my vocabulary. Love it!
