((((((Theodora)))))) - I've been so worried about you and wondered many times where you are. I'm relieved to know you're here but saddened by your dire circumstances. Are you in a homeless shelter and in contact with social services in your area? There's also :

I pray you're going to be alright.

anyone with a disability can make use of the services of an Independent Living Center for all kinds of supports and referrals, including Peer Advising. google for the one in your area, they should do "home visits" or homeless visits, if that's necessary. hope you find your way HOME soon, Theodora~! best wishes~~ Gus

Oh that really is tough. I've been there. It's only been a year for me since it happened to me. Believe me, it can happen to ANYBODY. I went from having thousands of dollars to nothing in no time flat.

Luckily I think NYC has more options than where I am from.
I became homeless when a relationship I had disintegrated and I was kicked out of my apartment. My family was no help. I was all alone too. Do you have T you can talk to? I called my T for emotional support and he helped me plan stuff out, but I had to reach out for help because other people don't just know what's going on unless you tell them. Hardest part was telling someone that I didn't know what to do.

If nothing else, I don't know what your religion is, but it doesn't matter that much-- the Catholic Church has an obligation to help those in need. If you don't have any issues with religion or priests (even if you aren't Catholic) a Catholic Church might be a great help. There are tons of Catholic churches in NYC, and I trust them before I like would ever trust government agencies (especially considering NYC's mental health laws and substandard services). Most of these churches you can just walk right into and see a priest in between services. Maybe some other churches are the same way? I only found out about the church thing after the fact though (and I'm not Catholic btw). God or no God, priests are people who have obligations. I find that when God doesn't talk I come up with answers anyway.

What is in CA? Who will be there? Do you have money? How will you get there? I don't necessarily believe jetting the state is a good idea when you are so vulnerable. Update us!
Thanks for this!

Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda... never helps.
That kind of thinking will set yourself up for failure right away. Don't do it.
I don't trust people I just meet who invite me to their home, but if it was a lady who seemed stable I MIGHT consider staying a night. Depends. Is she older than you? Does she have a husband? How do you know her? If she's drinking or on drugs that is pretty much out of the question.

You could consider New Jersey? New Jersey is close to NYC but has a lot of it's own resources (and has better state helps than NYC in many cases).
Thanks for this!

Hey----sometimes ya gotta laugh--or lose in the altogether--------------

no, i have no one in real life to talk to right now----family=no family
Ny WTC monitoring program tried to throw a bunch of pills at me--no good-Advocated and got a horrific sahrink--
fell asleep on two separate sessions; then offered me an umbrella to go out in a tornado!!!!!!!!

Lynn--I dunno how to cut and paste--soooooo scared.

Now weall sing--c'mon--you too-yeah you---

"there was a hungry ***** cat on Thanksgiving Day..."Meow said he Mewow said he------tah dah!!!

See that?

That's refusal to say what i will not say--

But my bestest friend better talk to me soon!!!!

He knows I am accountable for the state am in--He knows I take full credit.

From "As Good As it Gets": "How do you write women so well?"-silly receptionist
asks Jack Nicholson--he replies:

'well; I take a man. I take away reason and accountability"---As a woman--alone for many years I do soooooo relate--it's that Jack smile!!!-No offense gals---

How about--
"Sell crazy somewhere else....We're all stocke d up here"

so I sing and lolllligag around--and the sky is falling--

My bestest friend in the world is always at my side--and all my dogs--and all my cats(((((Crackers))))can't decide--she loves (((((Soul))))), but she also loves my Theodore H. Wolf (white shepherd I found once upon-ya know)

A laugh a day--it keeps the "mean reds" away (Breakfast a Tiffany's--Ahhh Will there ever be another Audrey Hepburn?????-- "No dawling the blues are if it's raining and you're getting fat or something. The Mean Reds are when you're afraid of something; but you don't know what it is that you're afraid of--when that happens the only thing for me is to hop a cab and go to Tiffany's--nothing bad ever happens there--"Quelle Beast!""

Thanks all for the suggestions--gonna have to wing it here----------------love you all------------------------------theo

Theo - the link I gave you....just type it in your browser by hand. Here's instructions how to copy and paste. Highlite the words by holding left click down and you'll see it highlited 'blue'. Keep the cursor on there and right click - you'll see a box that gives you choices - press copy.

When you want to paste what you copied. Put the cursor on it and right click again ....box will come up and you click paste....voila....you've paste what ever you copied. Take good care Theo and hopefully you can get in touch with some of those agencies we gave you. Are you on your meds? We love you...be careful.

Hi, Theodora. I have been worrying about the logistics of your situation. In particular, I wonder if you have the means to travel? This may not appeal AT ALL, but churches will very, very often help with logistics and they will always help with sustenance. (I used to work in the public schools and we used churches to help us help teens whose situations became drastic. In that way, I learned what sorts of help they can provide.) Also, they can help with referrals and connections. Ordained ministers and priests all have counseling course requirements and experience. They are people IRL to talk to, in any case. ?

Also, I hope this doesn't trigger anyone...
