the idea is to heal any childhood trauma and "reparent" yourself to grow up emotionally. So we do inner child dialogue. you write with ur non dominant hand for ur inner child, and write with ur dominant hand ur inner parent. It works well for me because it helps me to love myself, to be the loving caring compassionate person to myself. my inner child enjoys playing in the sand, drawing, skipping, and throwing rocks in the water . We've also done hypnosis . Right now we are working on a book called "the prescence process" this is our 3rd time in a row doing it, it incorporates breathwork, which we do a lot of, with staying in the present moment. anyone else do stuff like this ?

That sounds really really interesting. I'd love to hear more about it. Obviously I haven't done it.

Hi Beth! I went to a lecture/workshop once where we wrote with our non-dominant hand. Sometimes I do it in my journal.

My T does IFS therapy which concerns itself with all of a person's parts. Often it's the child parts we're dealing with: listening to them, feeling compassion for them, and trying to get my Self to give them what they need.

She also teaches me mindfulness and we do breathing/meditation each week. She wants me to stay in the present, especially during our session. She is also interested in where in my body I feel things.

That book sounds interesting!

my t is certified by the wellness institute and does a lot of heart centered therapy, we do a lot of meditation, breathwork, inner child work, staying present, hypnosis, she is also bipolar and relates to me in a lot of ways. Theres never a boring session with her, thats for sure. shes lots of fun. we go for walks sometimes, she says its a good way to move ur pain thru u. we are going out for lunch next week,. shes very personable, I did a breathing session in her bathtub last week, stuff like that that makes her what i think is slightly off the beaten path, thats what i like about her,

What exactly is a breathing exercise in the bathtub? I can't believe that she let you use her tub! She must really trust you!!

she sat by me on the floor while i was in the tub, its suppose to be a rebirthing expirience in the tub, u breath thru a snorkle and ur on ur belly under the water. its intense. the way ur suppose to breath is to make an effort on the inhale and really let the negativvity out with the exhale and breath without pausing. It wasnt the most pleasent thing ive ever done, it took about a half hour. and yes we trust each other very much. Shes one of the few people in my life that I do trust,
Beth

Beth, my T and I have done Ego State Therapy and worked with child ego states of different ages. More recently, he also does something called Lifespan Integration. Your work sounds very interesting. I like these somewhat different or less conventional therapies (although I know I wouldn't do the bathtub thing!--due to my issues with water). Your T sounds very creative. It is great to not have boring sessions!
