Well, as some of you read-i just came back from the hospital.
They had recommended DBT therapy for me actually. I tried it in the past at this certain behavioral health clinic but it wasnt the 'right' person to be working with i guess. I want to try it again, well, the therapists and doctors want me too. So i dont have to end up going to residential. Well, does anybody know anything on DBT therapy?? Like, could anyone give me info on it, what its about, who its for, what you do..i know theres homework and stuff like that invovled, but thats all i know. i would like to know more. If anybody can help me on this one, that would be awesome. DBT therapy.

Thanks Again!

Yeah, this is exactly what I think I need.... some CBT - my mind desperately needs to be retrained from the despair and feeling of death that it welcomes so easily from past wounds and from the massive destruction of my soul (caused by others).

Can / Will any one tell me of their personal experience with this type of therapy? - thx.

DBT and CBT are two different types of treatment. DBT is specifically used to treat BPD (borderline personality disorder) while CBT is a treatment for depression. I started DBT therapy with my T in December. He is very excited about how this is going to help me. It is too soon for me to say what I think of it. There is a lot of online info such as dbtselfhelp.com to give you an idea of what it is like.

I agree with contemplating, dbtselfhelp.com is an excellent site. DBT is also being used for a number of other disorders now. I know I've seen research for how it's been used for depression and I think also eating disorders. The skills in particular can be applied across a very wide variety of problems.

I hope you find an approach that's helpful for you. A good fit between your needs and the T as well as the kind of therapy is ideal.

I went through both DBT and CBT therapies. I think used in conjunction with each other they will work wonders! Yes, I agree that DBT can be used with many different diagnoses. In the old parial program I was in they used both DBT and CBT therapies. It was used on people suffering from depression to people suffering from schizophrenia.

I would suggest for everyone to at least try these 2 therapies, as they are very beneficial. And with the right therapist teaching them, I think you'll go far.

Good luck to all!
