T always wears tie shoes, dress pants, LS button down shirt and a tie. ONCE when I saw him on a Saturday morning he wore a polo. Would love to see him in shorts though - he's young, built and has a really cute butt

My T dresses in business casual attire - usually khakis and a nice plain shirt....with a sweater vest in the winter...His wife dresses him in the mornings, cuz he's color blind. LOL. He's never worn shorts, and I doubt that he ever would at work. I'm not sure how I would be affected if he wore shorts. I'd like to think that I'd be ok with it - Actually, I'm sure I would be....but I wonder if I'd feel more anxious about him looking less professional....

I couldn't care less what my T wears. It makes no difference to me whether she's donned in business attire or a tank top and shorts. It has no bearing on my therapy experience. I suppose, if I were a new client shopping around for a therapist, I would be looking for someone who looked/behaved professionally. I would want to know that she is competent and takes her job seriously. But, now that I've been working with my T for 2 years, her wardrobe is of no importance to me. After all, she seems me waltz into therapy in tank tops and skirts (96 degrees!) so, if she were dressed similarly, I'd say she has every right!

How does she actually dress? Generally, she wears business casual. Her style of dress can best be described as "typical therapist." It looks like she shops at Eileen Fisher. Basic cuts, neutral colors, long, flowy layers. Overall, she dresses fairly conservatively. Appropriate for a woman in her mid-40s. She doesn't show cleavage and her skirts (as far as I can remember) are just above the knee length or longer. However, she does wear sleveless shirts and dresses. She has athletic arms so they look appropriate on her. I don't know if it's intentional or not but she dresses in such a nondescript way that it takes attention away from her/her appearance and lets the attention go to other things. Oh, you know, like the way I dress. j/k. Though, in all honestly, I would say my wardrobe is much more exciting!

Men dress to please themselves. That is the difference between men and women.

There is no such thing as "men do x" and "women do y." Those are all just gender streotypes. Some men dress to please themselves. So do some women. Some men dress to please others. So do some women.

Yesterday my T wore those cool new black and pink Nike tennis shoes again. She also had on these velvety black stretchy almost like jogging pants, but not hardly as tight. She had on a dressy light rose colored top. She is definately not too stylish. I have saw her maybe once or twice that I liked her outfit, but all the other times were blah. In the winter all she wears is black, gray, navy blue. She has these tan suede shoes that are absolutely hideous!!! She wore them with EVERYTHING until the new tennis shoes came along 2 weeks ago lol. I sure hope that those poor shoes find their way into the dump and never to be worn again lol.

I feel the same way! If my T even came in flip flops I'd be so focused on that I wouldn't be able to concentrate. Thankfully my T has a HUGE collection of the original addidas, so the only question is what color he's going to wear that day.

my t has the most interesting shoe collection. he has as shoes, the bowling shoes my H and I got back in 1977. he has beige suede wingtips that H2 swiped off me. he has green suede shoes that I have a girlie version of. I think it's because I grew up aware of my brother's times and taste, as I was being pushed to grow up "faster", and my brother and T are about the same age.

Not too much sticks out in my head. I think she wears a lot of loose blouses and loose fitting professional pants/slacks but in a lot of neutral colors. She wears mostly flats and sandals, maybe a low heel. I think she goes for professional, comfortable, and un-distracting.
Thanks for this!

exT dressed really weird and it was distracting to me alot. And I can usually focus better than most people. The worst she wore was probably the last session I had with her. she is overweight and was wearing leggings under a denim skirt with cowgirl boots. I guess her top was normal because I dont remember any details about it lol. she wasnt very stylish at all despite all of her attempts lol. Bless het heart

Were you able to concentrate? Did you talk about his flip flops? Did he have those huge, ugly guy feet?

My T never wears sandals or open toe shoes, and it frustrates the heck out of me! I am so curious to see her feet, for reasons I am not even sure about. But it seems weird to me that we are so close and I don't know how her feet look like. I also feel like she is embarrassed about them, because why would she hide them? I know this is silly, but I am so damn curious...

Why do you hate feet? (just curious to understand that...)

I feel the same way! I have a major problem with feet. I can only tolerate looking at someone's feet if they have a fresh pedicure. Otherwise, they gross me out.

It's not just other people's feet either. I have a whole beauty routine for my own feet, too, to make sure they always look presentable. I pummus stone and lotion every day and you will never see me leave the house without perfect nail polish and a toe ring. Even if I'm wearing closed toe shoes!

Anyway, I love my T, but she is not a pedicure kind of gal. She's only worn open toe shoes a few times, but each time she has, her toenails have looked less than cute. Perhaps she needs a nail file & some cuticle polish for her birthday? She also has big feet and they looked a little "stuffed" into her sandals *shudders*
Thanks for this!

My T is always barefooted. Luckily she always has a pedicure so its fine with me. I finally found out that the reason for the barefeet is actually to help ground.

Mine wears business attire with a lighter looser shirt. Proper shoes so far, but flip flops wouldn't bother me.
But the amount of people saying feet gross them out now makes me think twice about wearing flip flops to therapy, i don't want to gross my therapist out hahahah
Thanks for this!

So last session when he was dressed down in a tee shirt, shorts, and flips flops...

I asked him how his other patients reacted to his change in clothes, and he was like I don't really care.

Is that weird that he said that?

Curious question: How do you know if someone has had a pedicure? I don't know what that is, exactly, but have a vague feeling it's where they sandpaper away the hard skin off your heels.
