I think this is the etymology of "yardbird". My great-grandmother had chickens in her backyard even when I was really little...and we lived in the 'burbs!

wow..I take off for a day and the whole couch starts slopping bacon grease on everything!

I call my parents mommy & daddy when speaking to siblings. The only time I had vegetables as a kid is when I would steal canned green beans from the neighbors, and my little brother and I would eat them straight out of the can in the basement. Sad but true. Mom didn't cook, hell, she didn't feed either...lol.

Daughter and I did a little retail therapy in Cambridge today. Ate vegan in Union Square. (she's vegetarian). I stopped at an herbalist and got facial cleansers and zit creams. My skin is a mess these days.

(((LOLA))) I have never read anything offensive by you.

I'm with you. I am from the north. My husband is from further south. I was a little horrified when first confronted with the whole bacon grease/veggies thing. Yucko.

I'm from the north and we used butter and lots of it. I though canned corn and green beans were just packed in yellow water.

Allright too much, I have accomplished nothing today, **** in a hand basket, nada, zilch, zippo .... except to make myself crazy over T and crying. I'm gonna peel out of here early and do nothing at a friends house with a adult beverage.

Well, don't look at me. You'd end up with a IKEA sofa in the corner, and a library section with 7,568 books.
Thanks for this!

I don't mind bacon, but the idea of bacon grease (or any kind of animal fat) on vegetables sounds... eccentric to me.

Ah yes, steamed vegetables are nice, even though I do prefer most veggies raw.

And I really have to Google coolwhip to find out what it is....

I think cool whip is gross. It must be a dismissive avoidant trait.
Thanks for this!

I posted a stock photo of a stock tank on the new thread. This IS so much more fun than working.
