Hi all. The last few weeks things have got harder. Haven't spoken to my psychologist for a while mainly because I find the sessions frustrating as how ever hard I've tried to engage it doesn't help. I'm in UK and she the only option I have. I feel so out of control at the moment and don't know what to do. I have spent the last three weeks waiting for her to return my call but she hasn't. Tbh she will just say be nice to yourself. Been off work and pretty much housebound for over six months. Just can't cope with people right now, but I
Going to lose my job soon. They arnt vein very tolerant as this has all happened before. Help x |

When you say this is your only option due to location what does that mean? If she is not returning your calls to make an appointment then do you not have someone you can report her too, a superior ...or request for a different Psychologist...one who answers the phone and makes appointments? I'm sorry you r having such a rough go of things, you said this has happened before, how did you pull out of it then?

I'm sorry things are so difficult right now and that you may lose your job. I hope not!
Three weeks is a long time to wait for a return phone call! Can you call again? Maybe somehow your message got lost, or also it's possible she's on holiday. Isn't August a big holiday time in the UK? I don't know what advice to offer on your lack of progress with your current T. I don't know about the healthcare system in the UK - is it possible there's some other option you haven't discovered yet? If she is truly your only choice, why not try to tell her what you said in your post. Maybe she could use a different style of therapy. Is she aware of how frustrated you are? You may have to spell it out for her to make sure she understands. It sounds like you have some really stressful life events going on and a good T could help you sort everything out and get back on track. Sending you hugs, if that's OK ![]() |

Not sure what it's like in your area but it might be that she's not your only option? You might be able to get put on a wait list or something - I'd try going bugging the absolute **** out of your GP until they do something to help you - maybe they can refer you to the crisis team?
Or, I imagine you're under enough financial pressure if you're worried about losing your job, but if you can possibly afford to go private, that's what I'd advise - you could get sessions for around £40, some even offer a sliding scale... might sound like a lot of money, but if it means you can get treatment and therefore manage to keep your job, it might be worth it? I'm just speaking from experience - I tried the NHS but didn't get the help I sorely needed and had to give everything up because it got to the stage I couldn't cope. Best of luck ![]() |

It's difficult because I work for the same trust as her, and I have patient A status to protect from people I know having access to my notes. I'm under the Early intervention team so not much else gp can do. Left numerous messages for her. My employer is insisting that to keep my job I must do night duty which cause me difficulty, sleep and mood wise. They have also caused me to have a couple of seizures. Just feels like everything is set up to make me fail, and it's hard to see when it is or isn't my fault. Sometimes it is me at fault, I know, and it is variable. Just such an up and down rollercoaster, I can't keep it in check. Sorry guys x
