....peeking at the couch.....

I'm alive and well, except for this migraine. Surprise!

I've been home for a few hours - for the first time in weeks. Feels good to be home, but I feel guilty leaving my mom alone. ACK!

When I'm at my moms, I have computer access - but I don't feel comfortable at all. Guarded at all times, on edge...so being able to get onto PC is a struggle - especially when her internet access is not wireless and she's always RIGHT THERE. DOUBLE ACK!

Anyway, just wanted to let you all know that I'm still here....and miss you all...and hope you're doing well. Will try not to be such a stranger. (( HUGS ))

I think I've grown out of SciFi.

Right now I'm reading historical crime fiction with Oscar Wilde as the detective and Arthur Conan Doyle and Bram Stoker in supporting roles.

That explains why some of the books can never be reached.

So did you do the avoid and distract method?

yep time to figure out your answer.... I went with truth and real terms at a 4 1/2 year old level.... they don't need a lot of term and facts just a concept... I bought a book that I could give to them when they were older but used the books starting concept...

I just said God put her there.. I really don't know what is appropriate for a 4 1/2 year old.

sounds like a perfect answer... did she ask any follow up questions? If not, she was satisfied with your response.

Nope, no follow up. I've vowed to myself that I will be more open and honest when it comes to that kind of thing with my kids. My parents were not.. and I want to be different. But geesh.. It came out of nowhere!

Yep.... I was surprised everytime and the my kids are 6 years apart so I should have expected it since I was expecting? I just used a concept I could follow through on so obviously it did not include the stork...

and "god put you there" is a concept you can definitely follow through on...since I truely believe that about both my boys because I had a very hard time getting and staying pregnant and know both of my boys were specifically placed and held in place by God...

Just realised that today is the day I first saw T four years ago. I wish we were in a better place now, four years later.

Good answer, healed!

I learned how babies came to be from a book in the library. Ann Landers Talks About Sex. I remember sitting on the floor of the library in the children's section (I was probably about 8), reading all about it.

First I was , then , then , then , and then

It's called the "Wall of Knowledge" and it's in Stockholm. I saw a picture of it on Pinterest and said, "Oooooooo!"

CL...I learned similarly, and had a similar response. Probably why I still have a hang up or two.

My mother told me she assumed I had already read about it but I could ask her questions if I wanted. Which of course I did not.

I don't have any memory of needing to know anything from parents, though perhaps I just wasn't curious when I was really young. To me, my generation just seemed to know these things as if by osmosis. I never remember finding one thing out in a particular way. Whenever someone tried to explain something, like in school (or being told by parents), it was silly because everyone my age knew already (or we certainly thought we did, even at a young primary school age).

Not that long ago I was in a public toilet. The horror, I know, but it was at a nice cafe and I was just washing my hands, so it was sort of okay! There was a mother (I guess) with her daughter who boldly asked what the tampon dispenser machine was for. I didn't actually realise I was listening to the silence and the awkward "uuum...they're...just...these things....that you use....sometimes" and then she looked at me and we both laughed.
