I got a couple of emails from the woman I must now think of as ex-T.
I don't dare to read them so I'll wait for W to come home.
Hooray for coping strategies!

PS:

I'm going to call her Madam T from now on. I guess that makes the new therapist Mr T.

I speculate that the key to W is fear. Have you tried reassuring her?

Eg: "I'll be right here when you get back."

is it is safe for a breastfeeding mother? (is it even effective for postpartum depression - more so than SJW, say, or 5-HTP?)

A first time mother I know is depressed, has been prescribed, and is frightened.

Not a big deal. If she wants clarification of what you meant, she is capable of asking.

Yes, it's safe, at least according to my psychiatrist. I nursed my daughter for 6 months exclusively while on it. Now she gets formula too, but there weren't any adverse effects. I'm not sure, but I would imagine there haven't been many studies on 5-HTP or SJW, so even if they were effective, there's probably less data about the effects on nursing. I've found it helpful, not as helpful as other meds I've been on, but ok.

If the mom is depressed, I'd highly recommend taking it. My pdoc always says that the effects of having a depressed mom are much more deleterious than the effects of medication, which is secreted at very low doses, in breast milk.

I hope the mom you know feels better soon!

Why am I so freaking sensitive to the stupid things H says? He makes these little sideways jabs that have been disproportionately pissing me off. Don't really want to be in the same room as him.

Hello peeps. I was feeling kinda blue, so i went to Amazon and ordered three books. Amazing how that can cheer you up. At least now I'll be excited to receive them on Friday.

Wow, over 15 pages of couch to catch up on since my last visit. I'm too tired to read through them all now, so I'll just jump back in here.

Had my pdoc appointment today. Mentioned to him I thought I had another "hypomanic" episode and described it. He agreed and added a 3rd med to my mix. Ugh! I had to say something. I have mixed feelings about it. I mean I'd rather not be on a 3rd medication, but at the same time, if it will help "level" out my hypomanic episodes, then I guess it is worth a try. I have a few hours before bedtime to decide whether or not I will start taking it.

There is a lady at work i supervise and she made sure I knew she scored over 1500 on the SAT. Perfect score on the verbal and she remembers the two she missed on math. But she doesn't know the difference between nauseous and nauseated. I know the difference and i scored nowhere near that high. You think she's lying?
Oh, she applied for the job I now have, makes for interesting days.

That's what I do. But I also order books from the library. It's cheaper!
