I'm home sweet home from my FOO trip! I'll be talking with t later today, about that sand tray I shared with y'all. I've done a pretty full analysis of it myself already so it will be interesting to hear what she says about it. Good luck with t today whoever's going. I have lost track around these parts LOL not sure catching up can happen when you miss a few days LOL! I'll start from here!

I have friends who live in a collective (commune) and they are mixed in terms of omnivorous and vegetarian and vegan. They are as self sustaining as possible. Their butcher is vegan but she decided to take on the job because she thought she would be the best at ensuring as non-violent (I forget the word she used - it was better than mine) an ending as possible. I have been there for a few times and, in fact, the animal did not display distress or fear. She is very good at her job.

Howdy all on the couch. Sorry I've been a recluse lately.

All the talk of dead mice and such has lured me back LOL

I took my two sweet kitties to the vet this morning and they were so pathetic. The entire drive there I was being informed of their displeasure. Then when we got there they didn't make a peep and hid and shook...it was really sad. As soon as I walked out the door of the vets office, they started complaining at me again. Too cute. They are home and have been given lots of treats and love. I think I might be forgiven by now.
My older cat has some hair loss on the tops of her ears and the vet said it is nothing to worry about. Hope she is right. She did say though that if my cat likes to toast herself in the sun that I should put some baby sunscreen on her ears to prevent burns and possibly skin cancer. I bet she is going to LOVE that.

As far as humanely putting a fish out of its misery...I had a beloved large fancy goldfish many years ago that became quite ill and was told by person at pet store to put him in the freezer. I don't know if that was the most humane but it seemed like he just went to sleep.

So

Ugh. I just remembered an incident from about 5 years ago.....One of my fish died, and as I was scooping it up out of the tank to flush it down the toilet, I was baffled because I couldn't find one of my other fish.

Then, as I was saying goodbye to the fish that I scooped up, I saw that I had accidentally scooped up a live fish with the dead one...and there it went, down the toilet....What an awful, awful experience.

Murray,

That's too cute about the kitties....My cat is pretty animated (LOL, that struck me as a funny word to use) during car rides...and then is Mr. Mean Ol' Grumpy Vicious Nightmare at the vet's office...He's even on their "bad kitty list" and ranks #2 under Ollie, whoever that is. I'd like to meet Ollie someday, LOL.

The vet said that she actually enjoys the grumpy cats because they are so funny. They act so big and tough and she can't help but laugh and she said that "takes the wind right out of their sails." Poor cats, the indignity of being laughed at when they are showing their fierceness.

The thing I hate most about my cat's behavior is that they have to sedate him in order to do certain minor things...and it costs me a lot of money that I don't have to spare right now. It used to be about $16....but they changed the med to something they're "required to use" which costs about $50....AAARGH!

Sometimes they have me handle giving him meds, etc. because of the risk he poses to the people that work there. My poor psycho kitty. LOL.

I think next time he goes to the vet, I'm going to ask them to just muzzle him - or give me a script for xanax for him or something.

Aw, baby squirrels! They're so cute. I miss feeding them - the places where I volunteer don't do squirrels.
