Thank you for the nice words Wiki. I hope that you enjoy your time with the critters today. Now I kind of want to go just to interact with turtles.

Good morning MUE and BPA!

Wiki, that's awesome you can start with hands-on animal work! It's the coolest thing, even though it involves tons of poop.

Because of my surgery, I won't be able to handle any animals for a while, so I'll get my fix vicariously through you! Promise you'll tell us all about what you did?

yes. I promise. I already told them I am not cutting up mice to feed the raptors though. No freakin way. lol Vegans don't chop up critters.

BPA - I am feeling well, thank you for asking. I get my scans on Friday...hoping for the big R word. Fingers crossed.

((( critterlady ))) - I hope the pain is more bearable today and that you were able to find a way to lessen it!

((( BPA ))) - Rain in the tropics. Sounds common. LOL. Hope you're doing ok today!

((( trdleblue ))) - Good morning!

MUE...they're frozen, but they still look like mice. I think I can handle the meal worms though...maybe. I am the one who scoops up spiders and brings them outside, so I don't know if I would even be able to sacrifice a worm.

Meal worms? Gulp. I don't care for creepy crawlies....Can you try to convert them to vegetarians?

Hey BP, sorry about your fish. You were talking in your thread about coincidences and I currently have a beta who is very slllloooooowwwwwllly dying. I really like him and actually have called multiple fish places to see if there is anything I can do to help him. Based on his symptoms and his age, each place has given me a diagnosis of "old age." One place suggested I "humanely" kill him. I have no idea how to do that or even if I could, along I hate to see him suffer.

How long did you have your fish? I've had Barry for almost three years.

I still have my fish just not with me. We've had them for ages. Have you tried putting a bit of salt? Is he swimming sort of on his side?

Aww, I'm sorry about your fish, MKAC. ((( HUGS )))

* * * POSSIBLE TRIGGER, about pets dying * * *

I found out yesterday that my sister's beloved dog is ill and that there's nothing they can do to cure her. She is 7 years old and SO loved by the family. The vet recommended steroid treatments to help and said that she may live up to a year.

My niece is completely devastated. I haven't talked to my sister or BIL yet...and the younger kids don't know yet. I am crushed. I suggested taking the test results to another vet to get a second opinion. Ultimately, I know they have to accept the situation - but it's SO hard when a pet is such a huge part of the family.

Basically he just lies on the bottom a lot. He kind of has a C curve in his body, with his body resting on the bottom and his face toward the water surface. He was really struggling to get to the top to breathe. The fish places said older betas can really benefit from a lower water level (he's in a one gallon tank that he has all to himself). So, I lowered the water level and then he improved dramatically for about a month, but has started to decline again. I typically have his water just a little salty. I have tried adding a little slime coat to the water as well.

Wow, washing my hair with one hand is almost as hard as putting on a bra with one hand. All I've done so far today is shower and get dressed, but I'm ready for a nap.

I'm trying to imagine a red tailed hawk's response to a veggie platter. If they could sneer, I'm sure it would!

Hey Lola! I want to hug you hard. lol. Maybe knock you over, like Tigger pouncing on pooh.

MKAC - sorry about the fish...fish are so hard, because it's not like you can hug them to comfort them or anything. Sad. MUE - sorry about the dog, so freaking young. That sux. My Lex is 8, and I still think of her as a pup.

Putting a bra on with one hand? ACK! That's talent!

I really should've capitalized on the opportunity to catch up on some much needed sleep this morning....but instead I'm going to go to the store to pick up some soil for my cilantro plant (loving cilantro, I can't believe I didn't try to grow some sooner - already made a great fresh salsa with cilantro, chopped tomatoes, yellow peppers, onions, fresh garlic, lemon juice and other spices. OMG, sooo yummy!). And I'm going to the craft store to see their selection of orange beads for one of the orders I received. I have some, but I usually like having at least 2 kinds of beads for each color for this particular kind of project.

Will check back later!

Morning All!

I've been trying to catch up a bit from the past few days. I think I lost all that I had been remembering though when I started reading the posts about cutting up mice and then frozen mice - BLECH! I would be a no-go on that one. I think trying to convert them to vegetarians is the best bet! Good luck with that one!

It's rainy and dark here today and all I want to do is crawl back into bed, but I'm up and at work and that's probably a good thing since it seems the other front desk person is enjoying a week long call-off. Oh well... Maybe when she finally comes back, I'll treat myself to a 'mental health day'.

I hope everyone is doing okay.
