That's what I meant. I wasn't looking at it as a money matter - other people might have more input into suitable gifts. If it were me, I'd look at thinkgeek and Unemployed philosophers' guild, both of whom have a lot of stuff targetting programmers.

CE, I usually stick with gift cards to local places where they like to eat....or perhaps a bunch of scratch off lottery tickets.

Good morning, couch peeps!

I have an assignment this morning, so I'll be heading out shortly. Kinda sux cuz it's an hour away, and the assignment is only for 2 hours....but I get reimbursed for mileage, so I guess it works out okay.

Migraine is lessening, thank goodness. Still feeling pretty awful about yesterday's T session. I am seeing T twice next week and hope that I'll have my wits about me to address the rupture in a more productive way. Then, he'll be off for 3 weeks. Gulp.

My daughter slept over my sister's house cuz she's going to the movies with my sister's kids today. I'll be picking her up later. Tomorrow, we're going to the zoo and a BBQ/birthday party for my friend's stepmom. Should be fun, although I don't really feel like going.

Hope everyone has a great day!

I had to look up what a Midsummer's Eve celebration consisted of. It sounds like a holiday that I would enjoy. I hope you enjoy your day Apt.

Well, I answered on the old couch, then realized my post was on page 101, so I am not sure if those who asked will see it, so I will answer again here:

If I did C a few mornings a week next school year...yes, I could quit riding the bus. As long as there are enough TAs at the school to cover the buses. If there are not enough TAs I would be required to ride the bus. I'm hoping there are enough TAs next year. I would nuch rather work with C.

If I did have to ride though...I probably wouldn't get the same driver. The bus depot rotates who gets the exceptional eductation runs each year. So I would probably get a different driver anyways.

I would rather not ride the bus though even if I did get a different driver because then I have to find replacements when I can't ride due to T and pdoc appointments. As well...I would rather do a few mornings a weeek and get the same pay (if not a little more) than 5 days morning and afternoon.

Stopdog...that bit was quite funny. How young Hugh Laurie was. I think as long as you don't eat the toast after you place them in your shoes you'll be fine.

Apt...Happy Solstice, enjoy your holiday.

I have a FREE day, kind of, I have to put some reports together for a client, but that's no rush and it's from home. Woot.

Well, I am off to get ready for a "long" day, but hey, it's easy work. I can read more of my books again at the senior place. So it's all good.

No book at C's though as I need to run programs with him. But that is fun, so I don't mind.

Morning Chickie...

Guess what? It's a good day in America...the anti-gay organization Exodus International not only folded but apologized for their idiotic teaching. I know apologizing doesn't take back 37 years of damage, but it's a start.

Good morning all..

Had a rough day yesterday, allergies, anxiety, unruly children, then the news that my bffs parents were in a motorcycle accident last night. I have spent a lot of time with her and her parents since I was in middle school, I am so sad for my bff and her parents. Her mom seems to be ok, her dad was life flighted to bigger hospital about an hour away from us, waiting to hear more news this morning. BFF lives in WI (I am in upstate ny same area as her parents) so she is freaking out and wants to come home.. I may have to make a run to the airport today!! In the midst of all of this, I have a meeting with my new pastor's wife this morning, going into my classroom this afternoon, t session late afternoon, HS graduation this evening!! Eeek!

Last night's dream: Aliens and Ghosts invaded the US, but they were likable, so I joined their side. The head ghost was extremely sweet, and the Aliens were vegan.

Seriously? WTF? I don't watch alien or ghost movies, and nothing I did yesterday would leave that in my brain.

Will you call the nearest domestic violence center? Seriously? They won't force you to leave, or have him arrested. They won't push you in that direction at all, unless you want it. But they can offer you free counseling and information, and an emergency help number.

I have a T that's enough for now.

I didn't want to make an official statement last night but they told me that based on what they saw (my face) and what I told them (that he hit me) that it didn't matter what I wanted and that they could press charges anyway.

I'm seriously regretting calling now. H is pissed. He's home with the kids for the time being as I have a meeting at 11. I'm leaving work right after the meeting.

Trigger warning for DV....

I know this might not sound sympathetic to your situation while you are in the middle of it...

but this is the best thing that could happen. On your way home from the meeting, call the cops and tell them that he came home. Have the cops arrest him and while he's gone , file a restraining order and change your locks....

I do care and that is why I say this...

seems like he is escalating just like is the typical expected behavior.... What are you waiting for... a knife attach, a gun shot, being punched in the face isn't enough?
Thanks for this!

Today is the first day of summer....

Does anyone have any goals that they would like to accomplish by the end of the summer?

I would like to be well on my way to finishing a scrap book I started for my son of his school years.. (he is going to be a senior in high school)... this will also allow me to get rid of alot of school papers and stuff I've been hanging onto since Kindergarten...

ETA: I have no creativity or talent...so it will definitely look like a work of love... (and not a work of art)

I need to fix the fence around the paddock. I also need to help our son get ready to leave for college. I wish I had the energy or talent to do a scrap book for him. I am making him a crocheted blanket that I hope to have done by fall when the weather starts turning cool. My daughter is doing physical therapy, and I hope she is well enough to go on a long camping/horseback riding trip with me in August.

1. My t keeps his thoughts to himself more - not sure if that is good or bad!

2. "It doesn't take him this long to be helpful"??? I would have had a hard time not slapping him. Maybe (?!) his other clients were lying to him, just to get away from his huge ego. You are not doing it wrong. It takes as long as it takes. You're not doing this for him. Look at all you're doing!! My t would be licking my boots if I were in your shoes. But then he's weird like that!

I bought a book about summer, about stuff to do, just to give me ideas. Some of it is simple, like make lemonade, but otherwise I won't think about it.

Hankster... lemonade sounds great... I would put on shorts and flip flops and play calypso music while drinking it in my recliner and pretending I was on a tropical island... of course there would need to be a cabana "man" (not boy) in that picture as well.

Appreciating the little things is so good for us.

Summer goals: Sun, swim, kayak. I want to spend at least 1 hr a day in the sun when possible, I want to swim for one hour a day when not raining, and I want to kayak with H at least 2x a month (preferably weekly).

THe only reason I am not in the water right now is I don't have a noodle yet, and I promised H I would not swim out to the middle of the lake without a noodle in tow. (he worries)
