that she thinks everything is sorting itself out and getting better. This is because the frequency of the paranoia dropped a little. Does this mean she thinks I don't need therapy anymore? I'd hate for her to feel like I was wasting her time. And then she tells me maybe I'm suppressing my fears and maybe I'm not dealing with things. And I hope she's not getting frustrated because I can't explain my thoughts really clearly and I keep saying that I don't know. I didn't dare tell her that it wasn't because I couldn't remember and I didn't write it down, it's because I didn't know how to tell her everything. I just started with her and to be honest, I have no idea why I'm in therapy. I don't even know what's causing this... Am I just reacting to a bad situation?

I don't think a client can waste a therapist's time. A client can waste their time and money, but not that of the therapist. The therapist is getting paid for their time.

I hope you can figure out a way to tell her what you said here. It might help for her to explain to you.
Thanks for this!

I think it means exactly what it says, "things are sorting themselves out." Having a plan and working the plan does not mean everything is done and you have a finished product; I think your T is just saying the work is going well, nothing about how long it will take or if you are near the beginning/end or whatever.

((Wolfie))

It means you're making progress. I imagine you may still have a way to go. Good luck!

No, it doesn't mean that she thinks you don't need therapy anymore. I think she is meaning to acknowledge and celebrate your work and progress. But I understand that fear coming up that it means something else. That comes from within us, a fear that if we get better we will lose the support of our therapist.

I hope you can talk to her about everything you have written here because it's so important. She can assure you that you are not wasting her time.

I'm sorry you are feeling worried

I don't think the therapist is saying you don't need therapy any longer.
I think they like to announce such things because it makes them feel better to think something is actually happening and that they have some part in it.

I disagree because my experience has been that my therapist likes to encourage me and pointing out progress that I can't see, and even have a hard time acknowledging because I am so hard on myself, does encourage me. Her talking about my progress also helps me feel like my therapist and I are working together - I've done my part and she's doing her part to help me see my progress.
Thanks for this!

I understand others are encouraged by things I am not. I don't think the the therapist could say anything to me that would encourage me. The very thought of being encouraged by a therapist is a bit distressing to me. And the one I see has talked about how therapists like to feel useful.

Well, yeah... I would imagine that is a reason they chose the profession. And don't we all hope to be useful in our professions, really.

I respect your opinions and different experience.
