Thanks for the suggestion.. I see my Allergist/asthma doctor this month.. I imagine we will be talking about different medication options at that appointment as the asthma has been getting worse!

Healed, I'm right there with ya on the steroids. I was recently prescribed steroids for my sciatica issue...and although it helped, I hated the way it made me feel. I tend to feel jittery, restless legs, unable to sleep, etc. Ugh.

My daughter asked me to wake her up at 9 AM....It's now after 10 AM, and she is still not up. I've tried a few times, but I haven't been pushing it since I'm not feeling so well. Sitting here with a neck brace on, hoping it will help alleviate some of the pain. I know that when my daughter finally wakes up and sees what time it is, she's going to be so pissed at me. Oh well.

I am already mostly like that so the flying suit is a bonus. And i get fly.

Plus the idea of me being a super hero is just below that of being a therapist in terms of jobs I am not suited for. So I was having a great time imagining what it would look like.

I've only had to do the prednisone route for my asthma twice and each of those was only for like 3-4 days with tapering included so I've never had any of the side effects.

I'm waiting for mail from overseas and wishing tomorrow weren't a holiday. Oh well, something to look forward to on Tuesday.

Thanks, granite. Yes, she does have an alarm but never wakes up to it. Heck, she rarely wakes up when I wake her up physically! I'm sure that if she knew that I wasn't going to help with the waking up process and that there would be consequences for not waking up on time, then she'd be more diligent. Gotta work on that.

I just cannot imagine what it would have been like, having a mom waking me up. Being able to trust her with that responsibility. I'd still be in bed! Hey, I AM still in bed! Hmm... anyway, you're a good teaching mom. I'll try to learn from you now!
Thanks for this!

Thanks, hankster! There are times when I think I take on too much responsibility for her - but then I remember how her homework is her responsibility and I don't nag her about it at all. She knows that if she doesn't do it, it affects HER grade. She is so concerned about getting good grades and so worried about getting in trouble in school for not doing her homework that it motivates her.

Last school year, she wanted me to wake her up in 5 minute increments over a period of time until she got up. Umm, NOT. It's such a battle in the mornings, I can't stand it.

Still, I think it's time that she starts to take on some more responsibility for herself. I don't want to enable her.

Getting ready to drop off my daughter to the skating rink. That will give me 3 hours to get stuff done. I am feeling pretty cruddy, and I know I can't handle doing the lawn in this condition (besides, the heat and humidity). So, I'm going to work on cleaning out clothes. Separate them into bags to donate, sell at our yard sale, post on sites, etc. That's my goal, anyway.

Sounds like a snooze alarm is in someone's future

I always wanted one of those alarm clocks they came out with in the 90's I think, that you had to pick up and throw across the room to turn off? But that was just a snooze alarm, they then would ring again. . . but from across the room, LOL.

AARGH! Went to drop my daughter off, and we found out that the skating rink is closed. Her BFF's dad was taking the girls - he's quite an intimidating guy, drill sergeant type. The girls were disappointed. I asked him if he had a plan B. He said no.

So, of course, I offered to take the girls to the swim club today. That means - no time for me to rest and go through clothes with this awful migraine. Instead I'll be sitting out in the heat and humidity while the girls go swimming. DAMMIT.

Normally, I would go in the pool too....but....umm, it's not a good time.

I went to the farmers market and got lots of great things.

Last night a friend and I went to see a movie. We should have seen the Butler one rather than the horrible one we did go see. Oh well.

Loving the idea of SD as flying squirrel super hero.....awesome!

Granite, I haven't been to Sturbridge in a couple years, nice place to go walk around.

Lola, so sorry that things are so hard. I agree that telling the T upfront rather than waiting only to find out later that they are a good match for you. I do believe that you can find someone. Sorry about the confusion and heartache with W.

MUE I have to admit that I was (am) that way about getting up too. My mom had such a hard time getting me up in the morning. It was ugly. Hope you feel better soon.

I was (and still am unless a dog needs me or court appearance) bad about getting up. It worked better for me when my mother quit stressing over me not getting up because her stress over it made no sense to me. I was like, it is my thing and if I miss it it is my problem not yours, so why are you unhinged? But I would not have asked her to wake me because then it gave her a stake in the outcome. Ahh memories.

Unfortunately, my daughter not getting up does tend to become my problem - because then she misses the bus - so my options would be to let her walk (which is crazy cuz it's way too far and she'd have to cross a 4-lane super busy highway), drive her to school or let her stay home. All of those things create added stress for me. So, my frustration and anger tend to come out when she doesn't wake up on time.

Just dropped the girls off at the swim club. I have a few minutes to nurse this migraine and then hop in the shower before heading over to sit in the heat and humidity for the rest of the dang day. *sigh* At least the girls are happy.

I preferred school to staying home so I usually got up for that by middle school. My situation was different - I was just remembering fights with my mother.

I would tack on a consequence with this alternative, maybe that you have shifted to your time schedule so she's 10 minutes late and has a note from you that she missed the bus, etc. It would still be her choice and responsibility whether to get up on her own or be late. . .

Hope your migraine is better/easing.

Sounds like somebody gets an earlier bedtime until they find one that works? Plus they say that it takes twice as long (or some incredible number) to DO something in the morning than it does in the evening, so it's better to do as much as you can the night before, like get clothes and food ready. That's why sometimes I go to t without a shower!!

I still haven't hopped in the shower yet....I am prolonging it, as I have no interest in sitting out in the heat and humidity at the pool. I will definitely be staying in the shade, but I can barely breathe out there...and that doesn't help my migraine at all. I've already taken a day's worth of pain meds and it's only mid afternoon.

Oh, and does anyone have a goat they can spare? Or any animal that eats grass? My lawn is reaching epic proportions. I need a plan B. LOL.
