So, as the title states, I am afraid to go see T tomorrow. I was supposed to work on a grounding skill she gave me throughout the week and I only tried it a couple of times the day after the appointment. I think I became afraid of it because I always got really angry afterwards but I couldnt figure out why. I was also supposed to journal about something specific but could not remember what so I didnt do that either. I dont know what to say to her either.

Hello Melisssad,

Oh, please don’t be afraid. What’s important is that you did find the courage to give this skill/technique a try. Sometimes it’s difficult to work as a team with a “t” when you don’t really understand how it will help with your emotional journey. I am sure that this therapist figured in the “testing phase,” which is what you did do for at least two times, good for you! In terms of test and studies, oh bother! Haha, please feel safe on tomorrow and please come back soon with an update. Have a great day during therapy!

I think just the fact that you tried the grounding stuff is great! Tell your T that you gave it a try but found yourself getting angry and wanted more support in working on those skills. Just be honest with your T and tell her what you wrote here. I don't see anything that says "I didn't want to do this" or that indicates you're trying to sabotage or be non-compliant. I just see that you're confused about what you're supposed to be working on and how to best make it work for you.

Sometimes grounding techniques are challenging... and we might not want to be grounded because then emotions come up. So it makes sense that anger was coming up for you, and it's definitely something to explore with your therapist.
Thanks for this!
