Why should I bother with therapy if the depression is cyclical(albeit randomly) and there is nothing going to stop it from happening? Just seems like a waste of money. I've got DBT skills, medication, and therapy- and NOT all of it together is stopping the depression! What a waste of f*in money and time! It's all so pointless!(No offense)

Certainly therapy is not useful for all things.

It is helpful for support and guidance, even if it can't stop the depression from happening.

Melissa, you know you have learned great skills that have taken you so far in the last year. You also know those skills don't cure depression. They are meant to help you cope with your symptoms, one of which is depression. I know you've been under a great deal of stress lately. Be patient with yourself and remember that those skills are meant for times you are feeling exactly like this. This is when you need to purposefully remind yourself to use them to counteract your thinking. I hope you start feeling better. Give yourself time. It's a stressful time for you.
Thanks for this!

Thanks! I know you are right. It doesn't make it any less frustrating. I keep telling myself at least we are far from crisis mode. So something I have learned in the past year IS working. Just the crying spells are really hard. I'm not normally a crier in my depressions of course normally I'm numb and in crisis. I guess I'll take the crying vs crisis.
